'07 draft class nearly purged from AFC East

After they dumped quarterback Trent Edwards and traded running back Marshawn Lynch in consecutive weeks, a lone member of the Buffalo Bills' 2007 draft class remained on the roster.

After they dumped quarterback Trent Edwards and traded running back Marshawn Lynch in consecutive weeks, a lone member of the Buffalo Bills' 2007 draft class remained on the roster.

Just three years later, one keeper is a lousy return.

But consider how the rest of AFC East drafted in 2007.

Only six of 30 AFC East draftees from 2007 still are with the team that drafted them: two New York Jets, two Miami Dolphins, one New England Patriot and one Bill. (See chart below.)

Trade all picks after the 3rd round for another selection in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I still feel bad. The rest of our division has actually won despite of their crap draft that year.

We have now sunk to such lows that even the lowly Jests pests that used to frequent the board crowing about "winning the offseason" have come to find us unworthy of their trollitude.

This is especially noteworthy due to the fact that the Jests have now in reality (not just in gang-grimes fairy tales) been winning not only off-season but regular season victories as well.

Someone tell me again how the Patriots are so good at building through their drafts.

Because it was the drafts in the first half of the decade that gave the Pats their core. The last few drafts have been a whole bunch of "meh" for them, despite having 90 more picks than everyone else.

Pats had no high picks in '07 - it's the year they traded picks for Moss and Welker, so '07 is not a good barometer. Other than that year, and '06, which was indeed lousy, all of the Pats' drafts from '01 to present have ranged from average to good.

but i thought the Pats were absolutely amazing at drafting and never make an error??

I know we've had some busts but every team does, i just get sick of hearing everyone talk about how the pats are amazing at drafting. if you want to praise a team based on their drafting prowess, credit the Steelers, they have an amazing track record.

Well they did trade picks for Moss and Welker that year.

That was, overall, a very weak draft league-wide.

                              Because they have a qb.

So we will probably have the top pick in the draft, you think we want to draft a qb ?????

QB covers a lot of problems,
