PITTSBURGH - When the Steelers draft picks arrive in Pittsburgh for orientation, they are faced with new surroundings, new faces and a whole new situation.
The one thing, though, that doesn't change from their days in college is their jersey number. If the number is available, when the players first arrive at their locker they see the practice jersey hanging there with that number.
That wasn't the case for second-round pick Alonzo Jackson. At Florida State he wore number 48 and when he arrived in Pittsburgh that's the number he hoped to see. But, he didn't. Tight end Matt Cushing already had the number so Jackson had to be given another number.
