06.16.03 - Mark the date: July 23. That’s when the Chargers report to training camp at the Home Depot National Training Center in Carson, California.
There’s no doubt several Chargers have July 23 etched in their minds, because that’s when they’ll begin competing for their jobs.
While the positions aren’t nearly as glamorous as last year’s battle between Drew Brees and Doug Flutie at quarterback, they’re still vital to the team’s success this season.
Here’s a look at four positions up for grabs.
Middle Linebacker
Last year’s starting middle linebacker, Donnie Edwards, has been moved to weak side linebacker to replace Junior Seau and to take advantage of Edwards’ play-making abilities.
