Are you ready for some more football?

NFL gearing up for fall launch of 24/7 network
IN THE BEGINNING, there was just a father, a son, a projector, a reel of film and a puddle of cocktail sauce.

In 1962, a frustrated Philadelphia overcoat salesman by the name of Ed Sabol and his son Steve paid the NFL $3,000 to film the league's championship game between the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants. Held the premiere of the highlight film of the Packers' 16-7 victory at Toots Shor's restaurant in Manhattan.

"Halfway through the screening, a waiter knocked the cord out of the wall and the projector went flying," Steve Sabol says. "We had all the top sports writers from that era there to watch it. Dick Young, Red Smith, Hugh Brown from the Bulletin. And there was our film, laying in this big pile of cocktail sauce.

You've got to hand it to the NFL, they understand what makes them tick.
BTW, I hear the NHL is going to release their own channel too. It will be on the air only on weekends at 3PM for 2 hours in the Spring, and after 10 PM weekdays. All prime time games however will only be covered regionally so not as to over saturate the market.

I wonder if that channel will play old NFL games in their entirety. ESPN Classics have old games from NBA, MLB, NHL and all NCAA games. But no NFL games.

I wonder why they don't do that.

In Chicago, they'll black out the home games.

What I love about NFL films is how they choreograph the classical and orchestra music to the slow motion replays, then add in that guys voice whoever it is, it is absolute shear brilliance in theatrical production.

NFL TV would sell like hotcakes.

It would juice up every fan for the upcoming NFL season.
                I'm lost.
