We've joked about the Bills taking Moss -- we have a feeling that Buffalo is a strong candidate to claim Merriman.

Re: Bills a strong possibility for Merriman
Is Merriman really that desirable? IMO, his situation is a lot like Moss. As far as I can tell, he's going to be a free agent after this year. His play has obviously tailed off, but I'm sure he's still going to be looking for a decently sized contract. So why would we want him, especially since he probably won't want to re-sign with us?"Misguided political correctness tethers our intellects."

He is low risk and high reward, I don't see the downside to taking him. Especially after he passed his physical.

His contract is bloated compared to his production (and despite what people say, money does matter, even without a cap). It may be worth finding out, but I don't think the chances are good that he'll be even close to the player he was.

Originally posted by MahdiHow does the money matter? If he is no good his contract expires after this season anyway. All I'm saying is that I see Merriman's situation as being similar to Moss, in that we'd get him for about half a year and then he'll walk. Yes, we can franchise him, but I seriously, seriously doubt he'll be worth a tag come that time.
Another thing no one's mentioned is that we aren't playing in a 3-4 anymore. While he'd be a better 4-3 LB than Kelsay is, that's not saying much. And it seems that, to the chagrin of fans, Kelsay is here to stay for a little while. So how are we even going to find out what he can do if we aren't playing a 3-4?"Misguided political correctness tethers our intellects."
