View Full Version : If the Bills get to pick 2nd or 3rd, who do you pick?

Who do you pick?

My pick would be Marcell Dareus followed by A.J Green.

There is no other T work taking in the top 5. Do you take Jake Locker? Patrick Peterson?

A lot is still up in the air. Luck is worthy of the top pick, IMO. But after that I'm not totally settled on who's worthy of where. Peterson is worthy fo a top 3 pick IMO, but I have no interest in drafting a CB.

Green, Dareus, Quinn, Clayborn, maybe Bowers might by worthy of it.

If Luck goes #1, I'm passing on a QB until the second.

I'd prefer somebody like Darius, Bowers, Quinn or Fairley, but Peterson wouldn't completely break my heart.

Yeah... I haven't researched much beyond the QBs, but I've seen Clayborne twice and the dude is an absolute animal. I'd love to call him a Bill for the next 12 years if Luck isn't there.

I would take Mallett. Yeah, I'm for that too. After seeing how Gailey worked with Fitz, seeing what he could do with a guy like Mallet is intriguing. There is potential for something good to come out of that. JMO

Bowers might be my choice. The thing I noticed first about him was his ability to stop the run. And oh yeah, he's leading the nation in sacks. The guys is a freak.

Is there a Suh like D-lineman?

This team needs D-line before anything else on D. It all starts with the big uglies up front, eating up blockers to allow the LBs to run sideline to sideline.

Front 7 is always a wise place to start and trading down for extra picks may also be wise. Bills have multiple needs there.

QB & Front 7 . That should be the focus.

Trade down wouldn't happen. The only way, I feel there is a trade out of the top 5 is if it is the #1, or if Luck doesn't go #1. I think that Luck goes #1, regardless of who is on the clock.

Jerry has done it before, and would do it again. Romo has been good, but he isn't elite. That being said...I would be fine if we swung a deal from Romo!!

Dallas will still end up below us IMO. I think they win 2 to 4 games the rest of the year. We may struggle to win 1.

I'll take Green, but man is Bowers making it interesting.

What's going on with Clayborn? He looks out of shape. I've watched him play twice this season, small sample size, but against Northwestern/Wisconsin he looked absolutely spent. Not liking what I'm seeing out of him. The pressures are there, but he's being spelled much too often for my liking. Something's not right with him.

Quinn more than likely won't be playing DE in the 3-4 at the next level unless he adds a good 25 pounds to his frame. It's questionable how well he could play as an OLB. Do we really want to go down this road again?

How many times did Polian trade up?

And if the move was to get Manning instead of Leaf, would you do it?

Before the Colts drafted Manning they had guys like Marshall Faulk, Marvin Harrison and Tarik Glenn in place. Yes Marshall was traded the next year but they Colts got James to replace him with pick #4 in the 1999 draft. I still don't believe that Lee Evans is a pure #1 WR and while Steve Johnson's played well truly doubt he's a number 1 either. Fred Jackson/CJ Spiller haven't shown much this year to make me think we have a stud at RD. Demetrius Bell has been better this year than last but the O-line on the whole still not above average. Build the franchise and make your QB the last piece of the puzzle not the first and you have a better chance at winning.

if fitzpatrick can keep this play up the next 7 games, or even play slightly better, i would feel very comfortable with him as our guy... even if we do have the 1st pick... but if we dont, i say take marcell dareus, no question, if hes not there and we are picking 3rd then take ryan kerrigan who is a mix of merriman before his injuries and clay matthews with more power and size... if we pick 4th i say we take nick fairley or adrian clayborn but i want one of those top 3, preferably dareus or kerrigan, those two are studs.

also dont be fooled by dareus and his low stats, he has been suspended for 2 games, and then hes also been playing with a sore/sprained ankle...

How many times did Polian trade up?

As far as the first round?

'85-Bruce Smith, traded down for Derrick Burroughs (GB)
'86-Ronnie Harmon, traded up for Will Wolford (SF)
'87-traded down for Shane Conlan (Houston)
'88-traded for Bennett in '87
'89-traded for Bennet in '87
'90-James Williams
'91-Henry Jones
'92-John Fina
'93 Thomas Smith

I went back to '85, just for the helluva it. Jones, Fina, and Thomas Smith were all taken with the next to last pick in the first round, the teams regular draft slot. Williams, Harmon, and Bruce Smith were all taken with the Bills original slot also.

I would say once, for Wolford, and that was moving back into the first from the second after already using their pick on Harmon. I don't think Polian, as Bills GM, ever moved up to improve his position in the first round.

When Jerry drafted Aikman, he also used a supplemental pick (which turned out to be next year's number 1 overall) on Jimmy J's old college qb, Steve Walsh.

Eventually he got decent value in trading Walsh, but at one point he had two number one overall qbs.

So yeah he's done it before.

I don't think the Cowboys are going to have #1 either.

Just a guess based upon how ridiculously bad the Panthers look. and the fact that everyone on the roster knows they're playing out a lame duck season for John Fox--there is small chance that they're going to turn it around. whereas the Bills and Cowboys both have reasons to keep gutting it out.

Hard to argue with that PTR, especially as well as Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing.
