On a busy Tuesday in June the 49ers signed a cornerback, brought in an offensive lineman and waived two players.
Signed was cornerback Antuan Simmons who just finished a season in NFL Europe. The former USC Trojan signed with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent in 2002 but was released after camp and spent this summer with the Barcelona Dragons where he recorded 44 tackles, eight passes defensed and one interception.
Simmons does have quite an inspirational story stemming form his college career. After having back surgery following his junior season, doctors discovered a benign abdominal tumor which required two surgeries and kept him hospitalized for six weeks.
