Enjoy this week's installment of OFV....:boom:
I can only imagine the meeting the football gods had prior to the game:
“Hey, Todd, look at this, the Lions and the Bills. What are we doing?”
“Well, that perpetually losing town of Buffalo hasn’t won anything, so it’ll be more fun to screw with them, Alan.
“True, but Detroit has won basketball championships and hockey championships. They are 0-24 on the road. Let’s keep that terrible record going.”
Then each man hunkers down with his chosen side, and stares at the other with disgust. They have agreed without words that they will go to battle.
As a result, an incredibly sloppy game that showcased how little each city cares about winning was displayed in all its heavenly beauty. The Lions started with possession, and killed their opening drive by taking back-breaking penalties. The Bills had possession in their first drive at midfield. They elected to pass three times in a row before booming a punt to the Lions 1. The Lions responded with another penalty-filled drive. The Bills fought back by going for it on fourth and 1, and losing the ball and 2 yards.
