Hey, I understand we need to upgrade on defense. But you look at all those playoff teams, and what do they have? An early first round QB. Granted, we got the 4th rated one the last time we took one (Losman). With a pick near the Top 5, they should be able to land one. Luck, Newton, or Mallett should be there. It will be very very interesting to see where they go if one of them is there and a Bowers or Fairley or Dareus is there.

For 12 playoff teams, I would say 90%+ drafted their QB in the 1st round. Those odds look pretty damn good for me in terms of taking one early in the 1st round if one is available.

One big flaw in that article. Jake Locker is not getting draft in the top 10 or top 15. He will go late 1st or early 2nd, and if snag him there, awesome.

We draft a QB... let him learn a year under Fitz. Then draft or pick up lineman and pass rushers in the following draft or free agency.

First understand that I am not dead-set against getting a QB. What I am dead-set against is falling for the annual QB hype that happens every draft.

Everyone forgets that there is an Andrew Luck every year. 2 or 3 of then actually. Every year there is a QB the Bills have to draft. Do any of these QBs amount to anything? Rarely. For every Joe Flacco or Matt Ryan there is a JaWalrus Russel, Matt Leinert, Jimmy Clausen, etc.

How about guys like Sam Bradford and Josh Freeman? Bradford plays in the NFC West and he still has worse stats than Fitz. Freeman in Tampa has stats equal to Fitz. Matt Stafford in Detroit is injured but wasn't exactly blowing anyone away when he was playing.

So you want to take a use a #1 pick on a guy who has maybe a 50/50 shot at being better than what we have in Fitz? A guy who will likely be a backup for the next two years? Meanwhile we will pass on an elite defensive player who could have an immediate impact? This is why I think drafting a QB is nuts.

We have so many more pressing needs on the Bills. For the first time in years we have a decent QB and you want to dump him and buy a lottery ticket and hope you win? That's just plain stupid.

Build a better D, add to the O-line and the Bills will win with Fitzpatrick. This is not the draft to waste high picks on a QB. Trust me. There is an Andrew Luck every year.
