The whole fan ownership idea has been tossed around for years, but league rules will keep that from ever happening. This guys seems to have come up with an idea that could work if some formalities were addressed.

"That rules out this whole community ownership structure like in Green Bay," Brady said.
"So then I thought, rather than have the fans be owners, why not have them team up with an ownership group that is committed to keeping the Bills in Buffalo and lets them be lenders? It was a simple idea. I think fans would be interested in investing in the future of the team."
There are at least four hurdles to clear before the proposal can be implemented, Brady said. Fans must be willing to invest. A bank or other financial institution, preferably one with a major presence in Buffalo, must be willing to manage the transaction. And ownership must be willing to participate.

A couple of soccer clubs in England have done this in the past. Sometimes it's worked, at other times it has gone spectacularly wrong, with not enough people investing and the clubs getting into financial trouble.

He seems to have a fix for that, though. He spoke of letting people invest with a bank serving as an intermediary until it had been determined that there was enough $ worth using and that the bond buyers felt good about the deal. If not, a majority vote would cash out the bonds and wipe the slate clean. I have yet to see a better plan and the fact tht Ralph has said highest bidder means that there better be on in place before he kicks it, which could be by lunchtime.
