Good article on difficulties of having an LA team

This is a long article, but it was really good on kind of explaining:

1. how much fluff the LA developers are spewing,
2. what the real costs look like to the proposals (they are much higher than what is kind of being discussed publically),
3. how the two leading proponents are kind of at odds with each other due to stadium plans,
4. how local public funding isn't really available,
5. how NFL owners are concerned about moving costs,

There is other stuff in it too that was interesting. We keep hearing that the LA idea is a done deal and that the NFL wants it so badly. But this article made it out that the NFL is very aware of the costs and expenses and that its not a slam dunk. I think this all bodes well for buffalo and the other teams on the list that are "supposed" to jump at the invitation to move.

I used to think that the Bills moving was inevitable. Now, I think it's still the most likely outcome, but there are still ways to save the team.

that article made it seem like building a new stadium is not a done deal at all for LA.

They have $1.3BN in debt to service without actually putting up a stadium and without paying to buy a team. That should make a $800MM deal with no moving costs, no new stadium, and no need to have to break the revenue bank a nice deal for a local ownership group. Mix in nicely that maybe Pegula is our shining knight in armor and Buffalo should be in good shape.

The whole financial crisis actually helps the bills out tremedously because all of a sudden debt and how you pay your debt matters.

Previously, you could draw up a ridiculous stadium, ask the municipality to pay for it, steal all the parking and suite revenue, and dan synder your books with gigantic contracts that die early.

Now everyone is realizing that you have to be logical in your payments. I like the bills shot at staying local more and more.

Maybe the NFL is just keeping the LA idea afloat to get Cities like S.D., Minn. & Buffalo to build new stadiums. The NFL has done better in ratings since it left the LA market.

better days: That's the conspiracy. Without L.A., you next have to look at Toronto, then... you're down into the second or third tier of pro markets.

But seriously... Roski apparently has the more viable plan, the catch is whether or not he can get an NFL owner to go along with it. The other guy has little more than a pipe dream about as viable as Taylor's waterfall stadium plan.
