With the season coming to a close and some of the needs pre-FA showing themselves quite apparent on the field, if you had your choice of these 3 players, which would you go with?

Bowers, a potentional 5 Technique Rush End?

Dareus, a prototypical 5 Tech that is just scratching the surface of his potential?

Quinn, a pass rush phenom sidelined by the NCAA?

I think Bowers will be gone by the time we draft.
I like Dareus and will be happy with him. Should be available.
Quinn is the pass rusher we lack and would help immediately, but his issues may have Nix passing on him .

Frankly anyone is fine with me. While we need a pass rusher, Dareus could be the most beneficial, he reminds me so much Ty Warren. Dareus, Troup, Williams, Edwards and Carrington give us a young, deep and dangerous defensive line.

Bowers if he is there, Dareus over Fairley

I will be fine with any of the top DL in this draft.
Really like Bowers reminds me of Mario Williams coming out....
But like the poster stated he will probably be gone by the time we draft.

dareus, Fairley I like...

I'd be fine taking my chances with Bowers, Dareus, or Fairley. Quinn...not so much.

Dareus all day, every day.

He's the best fit.

We run a 3-4, so Im taking him as a 3-4 DE.

Many teams run a hybrid the first year they change over because the personnel need to be changed. It takes time to change.

We do, keep in mind you can have four guys on the line with their hands down, but that doesn't mean we are in a 4-3 alignment.

Always watch for the how the defense aligns with the gaps.

I understand the defensive lineups, I just think the team will benefit more off the 4-3 then the 3-4....
Either way Dareus would make it on the field in a 3-4 or 4-3 anyway.....

I think Da'Quan Bowers will be special. Echoing the others here, Marcel Darius is simply a huge upgrade in Buffalo, if that's where he lands. I, too, am a little leary of Robert Quinn, however, you can't teach what he's got athletically!!

If it comes down to a choice between these players, then it's Quinn all day, he reminds me of Freeney...except BIGGER.

He's relentless, explosive. I don't see that out of Bowers. I don't want a hold the point type of guy as a top 5 pick, I want an explosive pass rusher.

Haven't you been all over Ryan Kerrigan the past few weeks? Now all of a sudden you don't mention him...

If Dareus is on the board im really not seeing how he isnt the pick

He can start right away

Fits the need and value

and isnt a one year wonder to which Buddy apparently doesnt like

He has looked flat out awesome today

Yeah, he was a one man wrecking crew. Played most of the season on a hurt ankle, that time off did wonders.

What do you do with Kyle Williams. His value is all time high right now but he is a solid player I would hate to trade him when he is our best defensive player.

Trade him.

I dont think he can repeat this years performance and you'll never get more value for him.

Are you trading for a player or picks? If it's for picks, how high do you think we can get for him? I'm hoping at least a 3rd.

I don't know about DB, but unless we can get a really good player that would fill a great need, I'd take pick(s).

My pick would be Bowers because I think he's a bit underrated as a dual threat against the run and pass. I think he may improve both those areas while Dareus may not be as effective as Bowers at rushing the pass rusher. I still feel our road to the Super Bowl requires a long term fix for sacking Tom Brady. I think we need to be good enough to be able to split the games against the Pats to have any real long term chance. Bowers might be able to do a lot in that role. Although I would not be unhappy with either by any means.

find the one of the 3 that is most likely to play to his potential and equal his college production.

It sounds simple, but DL has nearly the bust factor of QB's. Go down the list of DL drafted in the last decade and there are some horrific top 10 busts. Not just a few, but many. Why? Dunno. Many professional scouts haven't figured it out. Some, like Ryan Sims, just were never that good. Is there an inherent psychological laziness that hits DL more than OL? I don't know if the lazy tag gets thrown around on OL like it does on DL. the key is finding the least lazy one.

Forget scheme. That's just dumb, and we've wasted a decade doing that. If you find the one that's going to play to his potential, you can find a place for him to play, and use his strengths. Physically, each has the tools to be a star on Sunday. You just need to find the one that's going to play like a star. It could be all 3, it could be none.

That's why I think you go to one of Belichick's main factors...what is the guy's passion for the game? Find the 1 of the 3 that has the most passion.
