awesome. now we can bring in some portland guy and hope that he replaces roy's productivity because a bunch of rookies in 2005 went on stellar run.

A real playoff team with a real front office would say, "we should try to trade to pick up the lost production." but for the time being we're stuck in this ******ed Quinn world. "Everything's fine! we're a playoff team that scores about 2 goals a night and let's in 3-5 a night! no need to upset the delicate balance we have."

WHERE IS PEGULA! Why does this process take so long!

You know the deal.. Adam will just take Roys spot, UNLESS Pegula steps up.

Bank on it.

So, uh, Jochen Hecht is our number one center now? Thanks Darcy!

Isn't Hecht a winger?

Time to move the old vets, get the new blood in here and let them play.

Makes more sense than sending a Defenseman to play Center.

Well, this organization now has it's yearly excuse on why they fail...it's always because of the injuries and never because of the incompetence of the FO. Another year, the same s**t!

Assuming new ownership takes over, this season should just be thrown away. I hope they are huge sellers at the deadline and clear a lot more cap space to completely re-tool the roster in the summer.

Pegula might be the owner in as fast as 6 weeks...let him come in and review the team from top to bottom...clear out all the older vets, let the kids play and move on.

That's what I'm saying. Connolly and Rivet are already walking at the end of the season which frees up $8 million against the cap. If they could move someone like Hecht at the deadline and free up another $3+ million, they could have some real spending money in the summer with a new owner who isn't watching his "internal budget."

They can also part ways with Niedemeyer. You can even add Grier to the list of guys who won't be here next year. The problem is this team is struggling from the top on down and they are going to continue to fool themselves. Roy's injury probably saved Connnolly's job for the rest of the year. Even the beloved Gausted is having a terrible year.

What sucks about the Sabres sucking is the January schedule. I'm making the calender right now and even though they go on the west coast, January is a very easy month...Only once do they play back to back...They could make a move in January if they had a good team.

It's sad to say, but them doing well right now could actually be bad for them long term because it might convince a new owner to think they don't need much when in reality they really do.

I can only think of four players on the roster right now that should be untouchable, the rest should be fair game at the deadline or before it.

I really hope Darcy doesn't trade prospects + picks for someone to "replace" Roy.

team needs to tank and get a high lottery pick....sad but that's how most good teams are built in the nhl now. (see: pittsburgh)

Truthfully? You can build so quickly in the NHL that I'd tank every 4th year. Then, in the second year of that cycle, when drafting late, I'd trade my entire draft for one high quality, even superstar-like player. Many years the NHL draft is a crap-shoot (they literally are drafting crap). Better to get a player than draft a team for Portland.
