Given the current personnel and the defensive linemen available at the top of the draft, a 4-3 would be a better option.

From what I've seen, among the players Buffalo could select in the draft, three of the highest rated guys; Marcel Dareus, Nick Fairley, and DeQuan Bowers all can play defensive end in a 3-4 with no problem. Some think Bowers would not be as productive a pass rusher, but that's because his responsibilities would be a little different. All three can be effecive run defenders too.

I think all three of those guys would be better off in a 4-3. Bills will have problems stoping the run if they stick with Kyle Williams at nose tackle in a 3-4 alignment.

They will play a Hybrid 3-4/4-3 Defense which is the best thing. This league now has teams that can change it up during games not always be specifically 3-4 or 4-3

Where is Kyle Williams playing then?

We should change John Dellapelle's name to Frank Luntz, with all the polls he runs.

I'd say they will probably continue to try and build a 3-4 defense. They don't have the players right now so they have had to run a hybrid of it.

Assuming this is the defense they planned on from the start I see no reason why they don't continue to try and put the personnel in place to run this defense. Especially since they already spent one draft on trying to obtain them players. Now whether them players turn out to be anything is another story yet to be determined.

Our problem this season is we have a bunch of undersized players who were built to run a Tampa 2 type of defense and they are not suited for the 3-4. I like the blitzing schemes the 3-4 can bring with the LB's, etc. The problem is you need the scouts and coaches to make it work properly.

You look at a team like the Steelers and they always have good LB's. It doesn't matter who they get rid of they have the scouts and coaches to find other players to step right in and not miss a beat at that position.

Teams are supposedly always looking to upgrade their talent on the field, they should take the same approach with those on the sidelines. Edwards is over his head.

I think you said it best...
This team is more apt for the 4-3 but will run both...
Kelsay fits much better as a 4-3 DE then a 3-4 OLB....
More depth and better players the team can run both.

But I do think DL is the best otion in the 1st round.....
