Dear Ralph Wilson and Family,
I hope you and yours had a fantastic holiday season and will have a wonderful New Year. Sadly, you will be enjoying this 2011 and future seasons without me as a fan. For 40 years I have been a diehard Bills fan. My dad first started taking me to the games when I was 4 years old. I remember the Ferguson years, bags over heads and all. My dad's cousin actually was a quarterbacks coach for your team when Hank Bulloch was at the helm. Those were rough times but also pretty cool for me as I got to meet a lot of the players. I actually saw Bruce Smith take offensive snaps during his rookie season-I have Bruce Mattesons in play armband to prove it! I was excited and optimistic when we acquired Jim Kelly- Those were great times- 4 Superbowl losses(in a row) not withstanding. Fast forward to the last decade. I hate to be critical of someones life work, for I, as a business owner and chef can appreciate how hard it can be to please everybody. That being said, If I take my family to a restaurant (for example), and the product steadily worsens and becomes more inconsistant and less satisfying I will not go back. I cannot tell you how much money I have spent on the Bills. The indoctrination of my three daughters into Bills fandome is priceless in itself. I am not complaining- I'm just not going back to your crappy restaurant! I am just one man with a great family and a wonderful wife (who thinks I'm crazy to subject myself to the emotional ups and downs- mostly downs- of your miserable football team) and this is seriously the first time I've ever posted or commented. Just wanted to wish you well in the future. The past 40 years have been somewhat entertaining- but mostly heartbreaking.
Sincerely RTW
