Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha's contract voided and he will be allowed to become a free agent without the Oakland Raiders being able to use their franchise tag on him, according to an NFL Players Association document.

Asomugha’s deal included a little-known clause that said his contract would void if he didn’t achieve his not-likely-to-be-earned incentives in 2010 -- and he didn'’t.

His contract also contained a stipulation that if he didn’t achieve his incentives, the Raiders would agree not to designate him their franchise or transition player.

Man I wish we could sign him up. Him sign 1 or 2 LBs and draft a DE and we have the makings of a great defense

Whoa. Somebody's going to get a good corner. Would love to bring him in and take Peterson off of the draft board, but given the choice I'd rather sign a similar quality LBer.

He'll be a cowboy imo.

They had one of the worst secondaries this year. Jerry will want to make a big splash

I don't think we can get a similar quality LBer in free agency. I think Nnamdi is a top 3 corner in this league. I would love to sign him, but I try to be realistic...

Peterson should not be on the draft board...

Yes he should be. He is a special talent and needs to be considered. Do we NEED help elsewhere yes but the draft you go BPA and he is one of the best available. We need to fill our NEEDS in FA

He may have wanted to stay with the same coach but with a whole new regime, again, I doubt it. someone will pay him ridiculous dough.

Just imagine when the Jets go out and sign this guy.

Secondary is not our biggest problem. I agree with Yard. Spend the big cash on a top notch LB or a DE.

Just imagine when the Jets go out and sign this guy.Good, that will pretty much assure Harris being set free.

He's a Cali guy aint he? He may sign with the 49ers......but I think he'd be a perfect fit in Baltimore.

They don't have the cap space. And they have their own contracts to take care of.

It is obvious that they never planned on him being a Raider in 11. The posibility of it was only put in the contract to increase the size of the numbers to make the players agent look good for getting him such a huge contract.

Apparently Asomugha and Revis wanna play together and seeing as Chromartie is on his final year in contract that puts him in the free agency.
Bills should make an offer on a poven CB

That's what is said about the Redskins every year...

I am willing to bet that the Jets at least make the guy an offer.

I'd like the Bills to get him in FA rather then drafting a CB, that's for sure. But, like you said, there will be many teams looking to lock up his services.

This isn't even a question...should we go after him? Absolutely, as well as Harris and any other quality name FA's. We gotta get active sometime and when you can land names like Asomugha, or Harris you dont sit and wait. I would not have any issue overpaying for either player at this point.

Beat me to it.

The first thing I thought of when I thought "big name defensive back on the market" was "When does he sign with the Jets?"
