When your a top 5 pick you need to draft best player available. I think Peterson, if available, is the best player in the draft since Luck didn't declare. He's great in coverage and is good against the run for a corner. Yes we need help against the run but we have a corner that plays well man to man ala a guy like Revis in New Jersey you can do what the Jets do. Send more guys in the box.
i think the bills should draft Peterson

I get that he is very good but we don't need a CB plain and simple. We have serviceable players there. Focus on needs like DT, DE, LB, OT and QB.....

Re: i think the bills should draft Peterson
I would be less upset if it were AJ Green. i think it just has to do with seeing defensive back after defensive back selected in all these drafts as far back as i can remember -- and the team can't crack the playoffs.
Many teams stay competitive by drafting DLine and OLine early and often (Giants and Pats come to mind).
That said, the Bills did go DLine in rounds 2 and 3 last year and they did go Oline in rounds 1 and 2 the year before. So, there has been a bit of a shift in philosophy, it seems. It would be nice to continue building that way.
Of course, it's kind of coincidental that they've been terrible for about as long as Jim Kelly has been away (save the music city miracle year). I could sign up for Cam Newton if they built the lines in rounds 2 and 3 again this year.

Re: i think the bills should draft Peterson
If Peterson is BPA I don't have an issue with taking him. This is a passing league and people are underestimating the importance of corners.
We have a lot of needs, but what we need more then anything is to get better and you do that by getting the best players you can. If you have a top 5 pick, more important than anything else is that you are trying to get a truly special player that can be great for many years. You may have more pressing needs, but that's why we have 7 other draft picks and free agency. If you draft well overall and make smart moves you can fill your needs adequately.
Think about the best players in the league right now. If you had an opportunity to go back and draft those players, would you? Of course you would, but if they didn't fill one of your biggest needs at the time, would you care? Most likely not because who cares what your biggest need was 10 years ago if you drafted a HOF type player.

Re: i think the bills should draft Peterson
I don't, for several reasons.
We've drafted how many DB's with our first round pick? Plenty. What have they done for us? Not much. Clements was the best of the bunch and he was no game changer. And ALL of them have left via FA.
The position is inherently incapable of taking over a game. If you have an all world corner, guess what? He can be game planned out of the game, see Patriots Vs. Revis, end result 45-3. Let's think about that for a moment...all world, all pro, all universe corner on a very good defense (he wasn't the only stud Jet defender on the field) and his team got tizzorched.
The only DB position I would draft early is Safety, that position has proven to be able to change games. Polamalu, Lott, Reed, Sanders, et al, all true game changers. You can NOT gameplan them out of the game.
We're drafting at #3, I don't think we'll be back at this low of a draft position for a while (I know wishful thinking), so I want us to spend that pick on a position that is certain to make a difference if we select the right player.
QB, DE, penetrating DT.

Re: i think the bills should draft Peterson
RIght now picks like Paterson green and Newton all excite me but I am not sure there the best picks for the team....
I'd rather fix this run d or pass rush but if I hear any of the first 3 names I will def smirk for the excitement factor
