A source tells 2-On-Your-Side that the sale process has reached its final stages, and that the due diligence process is a normal part of a complex business transaction. An NHL spokesperson said the deal has yet to reach the league level where Pegula awaits approval of the NHL Board of Governors. That will be the final step in the formal transfer of ownership.
CBC has reported that the approval will come when the Governors meet at the NHL All-Star weekend at the end of January in Raleigh, North Carolina.
