Islanders 5-1. The Sabres are completely falling apart - the players are aware changes are very soon coming and it'll involve the firing of most, if not all, of the front office and perhaps Ruff, too. That kind of instability often has a bad effect on the play on the ice and it doesn't provide any help for Ruff or the players that there's a general lack of talent on the roster after the loss of Roy. Connolly isn't even good enough to be a 2. line center on a bad team, Hecht is no more than an average third liner and Gaustad isn't going to be miracle-maker at center, either.
There's only so much Vanek and Stafford can do, especially when you add the constant turnovers from defense, particularly Myers and Morrisonn, to the lack of solid centers.
