Is Ponder going to play?

He's saying he's healthy (obviously) but there are rumors he might not go...

And as a result, Ponder said he feels better now than he has all year."It will be a big deal for me to establish with the coaches that I'm healthy," he said. "I think, for me, it's the opportunity to elevate my draft stock and to make an impression. I do think you've got to go in with a little confidence and recognize the opportunity. I mean, it is what it is; you're playing in front of NFL scouts and personnel, and it can make or break you. I've done a lot of work preparing myself, and I hope to do well."

We’ve not received official word but speculation is Christian Ponder of Florida State is unlikely to play because of injury. The belief is his replacement will end up being Nathan Enderle of Idaho. Again, this is not confirmed.

DB, just curious but what is your top 5 wish list of who we draft 1st?

If we stick 3-4;
1. Dareus
2. Peterson
3. Bowers
4. Solder
5. Fairley

If we go 4-3;
1. Fairley
2. Darues
3. Bowers
4. Peterson
5. Solder

Very fluid though and subject to change.

Agree, but he and DeAndre Brown are Vincent Jackson look a likes physically and I could see Buddy Nix drafting one of them.

I think when this draft is all said and done people are going to be like we did not address all of our holes, but I think we are going to get good value.

Interesting blurb from CB:

Sr. Bowl staff draft history (http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2011/01/24/sr-bowl-staff-draft-history/)

Posted by Chris Brown on January 24, 2011 – 10:55 am

Over the past five years 10 NFL coaching staffs have helped prepare the prospects that play for the North and South teams in the Senior Bowl. And over that period of time 23 players were drafted by the team of the coaching staff that worked with them in Mobile.
Here’s the breakdown of what Senior Bowl participants wound up drafted by the NFL coaching staff that coached them Senior Bowl week.
2006
North Team – coaching staff – Tennessee Titans —- Players drafted (1) – DL Jesse Mahelona (5th)
South Team – coaching staff – San Francisco 49ers —- Players drafted (4) – DE Manny Lawson (1st), RB Michael Robinson (4th), DE Parys Haralson (5th), DB Marcus Hudson (6th)
2007
North Team – coaching staff – Tampa Bay Buccaneers —- Players drafted (3) – G Aaron Sears (2nd), S Tanard Jackson (4th), RB Ken Darby (7th)
South Team – coaching staff – San Francisco 49ers —- Players drafted (6) – LB Patrick Willis (1st), OL Joe Staley (1st), WR Jason Hill (3rd), DE Ray McDonald (3rd), DE Jay Moore (4th), RB Thomas Clayton (6th)
2008
North Team – coaching staff – Oakland Raiders —- Players drafted (none)
South Team – coaching staff – San Francisco 49ers —- Players drafted (1) – C Cody Wallace (4th)
2009
North Team – coaching staff – Cincinnati Bengals —- Players drafted (2) – P Kevin Huber (5th), DB Morgan Trent (6th)
South Team – coaching staff – Jacksonville Jaguars —- Players drafted (2) – WR Mike Thomas (4th), RB Rashad Jennings (7th)
2010
North Team – coaching staff – Detroit Lions —- Players drafted (none)
South Team – coaching staff – Miami Dolphins —- Players drafted (4) – DL Jared Odrick (1st), LB Koa Misi (2nd), OT John Jerry (3rd), LB A.J. Edds (4th)
While the different variables at work in the draft are plentiful, it’s clear to see which teams felt more comfortable drafting players they got to know in the week they spent with them at the Senior Bowl, even if they didn’t coach them the whole week, with some prospects playing on the team they did not coach at the Senior Bowl.
But San Francisco, which drafted 11 players from the Senior Bowl in three coaching stints and Miami, which drafted four players last year clearly put a value on what they were able to gain in the daily interaction with players they coached or were around in the practice setting in Mobile.
It’ll be interesting to see if Chan Gailey and his staff take a similar approach come draft weekend.

i haven't given up on Locker. even in his worst game he still found ways to get it done. he was the heart and soul of that team and would will them to victory. his numbers were atrocious in his bowl game but the announcers kept raving about him regardless and for good reason. the man is a competitor and i think he has the physical skills to make it.

he reminds me of Cutler with less arm but way more up top. to me he is the perfect QB for us to take because he needs to sit the bench for a couple of years.

I was referring to his lack of accuracy when I said his arm was the question mark. No question he can throw the ball, too bad he can't hit the broad side of a barn.

This is going to be a huge week for him no doubt. As it stands right now, I don't think he'd make it past the Seahawks in the 1st round. However, a big week could move him up in the draft.

Ponder looks to be in a very good shape, compared to the other qb's. Also has the biggest hands.

John Clayon lives in Seattle & has been a big fan of Locker. In the spring & summer, he did not think the Seahawks would not have a pick high enough to land him, now he thinks Locker may fall to the 2nd rnd but if he plays well in the Senior bowl & does well at the combine, you never know.

Accuracy doesn't just come from the arm. Footwork has lot to do with it. When you question someone's arm, usually it's in reference to strength. Accuracy is a completely different attribute, not a subset of the arm.

Good point about footwork. The arm is a big part of it though, but you are right it is about more than the arm. I will not use arm anymore when questioning accuracy.

Stay away from Brown, far far away.At WR, Hankerson is a guy to watch. Everytime I watched him he impressed me more. Solid hands, deceptive ability to get open, and he gets lots of YAC. I like him.
