In an unexpected development in what already has been a turbulent offseason in Tennessee, the Titans and Jeff Fisher, the NFL's longest-tenured head coach, are preparing to part ways, SI.com learned Thursday afternoon.
According to an NFL source close to the situation in Tennessee, the move could be announced as early as Friday, although it's uncertain if Fisher's departure will be termed a firing, a resignation or a mutual parting of ways.

Looks like VY isn't the only Titan moving on, or is he?

Wow! Looks like Vince Young won out over Jeff Fisher and now all the other head coaching jobs are full, so Fisher won't get one. That sucks.

If you think the Dolphins haven't been scrambling since getting word of this, you're crazy. If they're not, they are even dumber than I think.

Fisher has got to be one of the most overrated coaches of all-time...Given all those years he has been with that franchise you would think he would at least have one SB ring.

He's a decent coach, but not the great genius that the media, and fans make him out to be.

Well, you never know, with that owner in Miami, he may tell Sparano he is out & Fisher is in.

After how much they embarassed themselves and Sparano from the whole Harbaugh situation, I can't see them doing it again.

I think Fisher is a good coach. Great ? not really 17 seasons 4 division titles and 1 conference championship. Had like a .542 % win record. I would take him here in a moment. :laughter:

Shoot Cowher put in 14 seasons before getting a SB win. Overall though Cowher came out much better. 9 division titles, 2 conference championships and 1 Super Bowl.

I don't know a Bills fan breathing who wouldn't want a HC with those kind of stats in Buffalo. We haven't had a winning season in so long, most here forgot what that was even like, never mind the playoffs. lol

I think Fisher is a good HC, but I just can't stand him. I'm glad he is not the Bills HC.

They can just hire him next year after Chan goes 4-12 again and gets fired.

I could see Fisher taking a job at CBS or ESPN.

fisher as been able to field good teams, with a couple duds, without overwhelming talent. Mcnair was a warrior but hardly the best QB in the game.

he had a great running game as a function of good running backs and good line play.

he's had good defenses.

and he's done this all with a crazy coot owner who made him take a QB he didn't want.

I'd take fisher straight up right now even with chan's great moves. Seriously, i think most of you would as well.

I fear him being put on a capable team. you know Jerry jones is twitching in dallas. he likes jarret, but seriously, a big flashy name? It would be anti-jerry if he didn't at least try.

Coach Fisher will be a Miami Dolphin in 2012 or possibly sooner. Sooner may be unlikely cuz Dolphins would look like jerks on how they have dealt with Sparano. Miami is my most likely situation besides the NY GIANTS in 2012 if Coughlin doesn't make playoffs.
