EL PASO, Texas -- The Sun Bowl Association announced Wednesday that it has secured a corporate sponsor through 2006 with Helen of Troy taking over from the Wells Fargo Bank after this year's game Dec. 31.

Wells Fargo agreed to extend its title sponsorship for the 2003 game, and Helen of Troy will take over in 2004 with a three-year agreement and an option for 2007.

Wells Fargo and its predecessor, Norwest Bank, have been the title sponsor of the Sun Bowl football game since 1996. Helen of Troy, with its headquarters in El Paso, produces personal grooming items that include everything from brushes to foot baths.

"The Sun Bowl Association is proud that El Paso has fine corporate citizens like Helen of Troy and Wells Fargo Bank that would together secure the future of the Sun Bowl game," said Chris Mott, Sun Bowl Association president.

The Sun Bowl is one of the oldest college football bowl games in the nation. First played in 1935, the Sun Bowl matches teams from the Big Ten and Pacific-10 conferences.

"We are thrilled to be a part of the biggest event in El Paso," said Gerald J. Rubin, president of Helen of Troy. "The Sun Bowl is El Paso's window to the nation and we are very happy to be a part of the Sun Bowl's tradition."

CBS Sports will broadcast the 2003 Sun Bowl for the 36th year in a row.
