    Broncos owners past and present wrangle over suit

    Lawyers for Pat Bowlen, the owner of the Denver Broncos, and the man from whom he bought the team, Edgar Kaiser, appeared in U.S. District Court on Thursday to argue over the parameters of a lawsuit Kaiser filed against Bowlen in 1999 that is heading for trial.

    At issue is the contract that the two signed in 1984, when Bowlen bought the team from Kaiser for $65 million. It included a clause guaranteeing Kaiser the right of first refusal, should Bowlen ever try to sell part or all of the football team.
