Hey guys, no link like usual right now but I'm hearing the Bills have dumped the blue on blue home and clown away uniforms for 2011.

I'm not entirely sure if they are going with completely new uniforms, or using throwbacks permanently, but the current home and away uniform is done.

DEFINITELY True!
Just got the email from the Bills as a season ticket holder!

Dear Chris,
As a valued Bills Season Ticket Holder, we want you to be among the first to know that the Buffalo Bills will introduce new uniforms for the 2011 National Football League season. The new uniforms will be officially unveiled at a fan appreciation event later this year.
The new uniforms will incorporate the team's storied history while keeping the team's signature charging buffalo logo. The Bills last made a change to their primary uniform prior to the 2002 season.
The Bills will announce specific details regarding the new uniforms and the fan appreciation event later this year.
Thank you very much for your continued support.
Sincerely,
The Buffalo Bills

is this the best news we've heard as bills fans since getting bledsoe?

You can't count firing jauron because that was more relief than anything else. This is actually excitement i'm feeling.

Of course, there is a high chance that they'll screw it up, but the away jersey's were just too much to deal with.

Kind of a wierd time to change jersey's though. because if a lock-out occurs, then you can't buy a jersey with a players name on it, technically.

The ones right above would be great and a definite upgrade.

Hey, you gotta look good to play good, right? That's the first step. It's pretty rough watching a bad team play in uniforms that look lame. Let's at least get the first part right, and maybe get some luck in the draft, etc. and see what happens.

(I'll take any sign of improvement at this point)

It sounds that way...

In a letter to season ticket holders, the team says the new look will be unveiled at a fan appreciation event later this year. The letter states that "the new uniforms will incorporate the team's storied history while keeping the team's signature charging buffalo logo. The Bills last made a change to their primary uniform prior to the 2002 season."

Bills Executive Director of Marketing Andy Major told News 4 Sports that the uniform change will not be a shift to last year's throwbacks, but a complete new design that will incorporate the existing charging Buffalo logo.

He also said that versions Bills fans may find on the Internet are "not accurate." You can see those images, that have been found on the Internet since last November, here (http://www.wivb.com/dpp/search/internet-images-of-new-uniform-not-accurate) .

That could indicate a cross between the recently introduced throwback uniforms, but may not include the standing buffalo logo that the team has worn on their helmet with the throwbacks, which pay tribute to the AFL Champions of the 1960's.

The current uniforms, especially the road version with the colored shoulders, have never been popular with BIlls fans. (No chit, man)
While Nike will takeover NFL uniform design and manufacture in 2012, this new Bills uniform is not tied to that change. Reebok will continue to be the league's on-field sponsor in 2011, and will play a role in the Bills new look. Nike's radical uniforms, as seen in college football at schools such as Oregon, are not part of this change.

going to the playoffs once will be a gigantic improvement over going never.

Fred's comment on how no one liked the jersey is pretty comforting to know. I remember the excitement about the redesign in 2002 and when they were unveiled we were all just stunned that they didn't get the colors with the helmet right.

i want a normal looking jersey, and preferably something easy for the ecseller.com people to replicate at $40 a jersey.

Nike isn't creating jersies. It's still up to the team to pick which jersies they want to use and then Nike will obviously apply their colors, etc.

Just because a new brand is taking over doesn't mean that everyone is getting new uniforms. This transition happened before.

Nike has nothing to do with the re-designing of the jersies. Who would they be to decide what a team's uniform should look like?

Nike is gonna run into a lot of backlash from fans if they start messing with tradition... i can see organizations like the Steelers or Raiders flipping out if they try and push some new modern look on them.

Do you honestly think a team, even if it is the Bills, would change jersies a year before a brand change if there was ANY chance Nike would change them? They may suck at football, but they know how to make money.

The sooner everyone realizes that Nike has nothing to do with how the jersey looks, the better.

Nike is excited about implementing its new materials in NFL jersies just as they began to introduce in the NCAA Combat jersey series. We will not see the Raiders in pink and white, everyone. Don't worry.

As some have said, Nike is probably referring to the material of the jerseys. Every NBA team has new jerseys this year. They are called the 'Revolution 30'. They have pin hole patterns in them to help the player's body breathe better. And their numbers are made of mesh instead of cloth.

The new uniforms will be out fairly soon...IMO. First, they have already shown the players and everybody knows that leads to leaks and secondly, I would think they'd like to have the #3 pick hold it up at the draft. I don't see it being much longer until the we get to see them. I'm very happy they are getting rid of the ****ty Donahoe era unis...

In regards to the draft, I wouldn't be surprised if this "Fan Day Unveiling" would be held as a draft party. Perhaps at the stadium or elsewhere.

Maybe so, would make sense.

Well if we're getting new uniforms maybe I'll actually buy a jersey this year. The only question is, who's jersey should I get?

What's the over/under date on when we actually get to see these? I hope not too long... I'm fearful of the threads that would be started if this is the "hot news" for the next three months.

Read my post from above...makes perfect sense.

Do you honestly think a team, even if it is the Bills, would change jersies a year before a brand change if there was ANY chance Nike would change them? They may suck at football, but they know how to make money.

The sooner everyone realizes that Nike has nothing to do with how the jersey looks, the better.

Wow, look how much Reebok changed the Packers jersey when they got the license!

Maybe someone should tell Nike's own people that?

I'm pretty sure they're talking about an overhaul of jersey design, much like the reinvented basketball jerseys a few years back. Colors and style would still be the team's call.

From that dude's concept site... I have reservations about this one, but part of my likes it. Seeing that they said it will be the same logo, I know it isn't going to happen though:

I think you misinterpreted what they said.I can see this argument, but I don't think they clarified actually.

Guess we will just have to wait and see.

They will be nothing like that, thank god

They were referring to the overhaul of the college uniforms by introducing "Nike Pro Combat" which allows for improved speed and skill.

“We plan on changing the NFL jersey dramatically just like we’ve done with the college programs, using new thinking and the greatest technology available,” Denson said. “The NFL program hasn’t had the same type of advancement in recent years.

Is referring to the NFL keeping the same material and weight of uniforms for years. It refers to what materials they use to make them, and the shape/size/fit. Not the aesthetic designs. Those are still decided by the individual teams.

And having the team approve the design doesn't necessarily mean it won't be brand new.

I think you're just doing what you can to defend your opinion at this point.

So, keep fightin' the good fight.

The only thing I wouldn't want is to buy new jerseys only to have to buy all new ones the very next year. You must actually be right, there can't be any way the Bills would invest the large amount of money it takes for a jersey redesign in the last year of the Reebok contract only to have to do it again the next year. Right? I mean they aren't that dumb.

UniWatch leads with the story today and basically says that the uniforms are similar to the late 70s look that MadBomber posted. Which is good, because I have one of those jerseys.

Please stop going down this road. Nike is not going to overhaul the design of 32 NFL teams (especially for those whose uniform design is steeped in tradition and hasn't seen a major change in years - Chicago, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, etc.), and the Bills wouldn't make the investment now for a one-year design.

The NHL just did the same thing when they adopted the Reebok Edge system. Same uniform aesthetic (with very minor tweaks for a small number of teams), but different design and material. The Sabres changed their uniform right before the league went with Reebok.
