I just noticed that UniWatch has the latest details about the uniforms....

Ladies and gentlemen, our long national nightmare is over (http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Bills-announce-uniform-change-for-2011/cdcc761a-a867-4ae9-a12e-3ac24fe9fbe0).

Confession: I’ve known about this change since early December, when a little birdie told me about it but swore me to secrecy. So if anyone recently spotted me with a big smile on my face for no particular reason, now you know why.

Everyone wants to know what the new threads will look like. I don’t have any visuals, but I do have a description from the little birdie, which he’s willing to share now that the Bills have gone public with the news. So here it is — a Uni Watch exclusive:

These new Bills uniforms are clearly modeled after the later Simpson-era design (http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5258/5430804953_ff52f915ca_o.png), including the white helmet, but they’ve been updated to include a tiny amount of navy blue trim.
In my opinion, the navy blue is probably not necessary, but the uniforms do look quite good, and any sort of socks are an upgrade in my book. I wish they would update that darn logo, though. I’ve always preferred the solid red standing buffalo to the blue leaping buffalo, but I don’t think the retro logo works seamlessly with this new set, either. It is what it is. An upgrade, for sure.
Interesting. A few thoughts:
• I am so happy about the helmet color switcheroo. Never liked red helmets for this team. As many of you probably know, the only reason they switched from white to red in the first place is that the AFC East was full of white-helmeted teams back in the day, and the coaching staff thought QB Joe Ferguson might throw fewer interceptions if his receivers were easier to pick out on the field. Didn’t help, but they stuck with the red lids for nearly 30 years. Thank god that’s over.

• Here’s a big thing to keep in mind: Many people have forgotten that the current set was originally worn — and meant to be worn — like this (http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/5431478308_84dacd9732_o.png). Now, that isn’t a good uniform, but it’s nowhere near as bad as things got when they decided to go monochromatic at home. So while the new set definitely sounds like an upgrade, a lot of its advantages will be lost if the team insists on sticking with blue-over-blue.

• This is just the latest confirmation that Nike will not be giving the league a wholesale makeover. If that were the case, the Bills would’ve waited one more year. Instead, they’re making a uni change in the last season of the Reebok contract. As I’ve been saying all along, it ain’t Nike’s league yet. And even when it eventually is, don’t assume that they’ll be able to make drastic changes to the way the game looks.

Saw this today, thanks for posting it here.

Maybe now people will get over the "why are we changing our jersies a year before Nike dismantles them and starts from scratch" rhetoric.

That's what I was thinking...but I'm wondering where the Navy blue would fit in as accents.... hmmm... I also like seeing the team name on the jersey. It's about time!

Eh, not really a fan, maybe Ill like it more when I actually see the players wearing it.

I'll take it.

I don't love it, but it's definitely an improvement.

But the helmet thing is stupid- 2 out of our 3 division opponents still wear white helmets too. Maybe it makes a difference- maybe not- but if it does, then the whole change doesn't make sense.

Yeah...I don't see the navy in this scheme, and I wonder (read worry) where that will go.

Back in the 60's when the Bills won a couple titles, the Pats* also wore white helmets. 10 years of not making the playoffs tells me the red helmets do not help. I love the white helmet.

I like the monochrome for away games, all white, but not for home games.
I like the red helmets better, but that might be because that's the helmet I've always seen.
Regarding the color of the jerseys, that's a darker shade of blue than the current throwbacks, is that correct?

I remember the switch to red helmets. I wasn't a fan then but no I'm OK with either. If those unis are it, with a touch of navy somewhere, then they are pretty plain but definitely acceptable. I'd rather plain than awful.

I prefer the 70's era jerseys so this works for me. Hopefully with a touch of panache to give it a little 21st century zeal, but nothing over the top

not my favorite bills jersey.. but i'll take it. it's better then the CFL jerseys we've got (those road unis were the ugliest mess i've ever seen)

Like many i prefer the old red standing buffalo and lighter blue... but this will do.

sky blue is the color of the Chargers throwbacks. Royal blue is what the Bills wore in the Super Bowl years.

People need to relax...the unis in this thread are somebody's take on the rumor, not an actual leaked design. I doubt it looks like that and feel it will have a little more modern feel to it, but still not too crazy. I love the fact that they are going back to white helmets.

I'll be pissed if the Bills change the helmet from red to white. Really, really pissed. If this happens, hopefully the rest of the changes to the uniform will calm me down. I think the red helmets are awesome.

Personally, I’m split on the red or white helmets. We won AFL championships with a white helmet, yet we won 4 straight AFC championships with the red. If we do go back to white (which appears to be the case), I hope they incorporate more red into the uniform stripes and socks, maybe even an alternate red pants to wear with the blue jersey. Also, I really like the idea of a red facemask. Something different from what we have done in the past.

Blue and Yellow!!! Nah. Would everyone hate it if we actually switched colors from red, white and blue to an actual different color scheme? I still like the red, white and blue as base colors in some way.

I think red pants would be cool with the white jersey for away games.

I think we could see the navy blue on the helmets, as a divider between the royal blue and red stripes, kind of like the silver on the current helmets, though hopefully just as a thin stripe. or we could go with navy blue facemasks.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I think the reasons the Bills haven't been to the playoffs for over a decade now goes a bit deeper than the color of their helmet. Yet, whrn you have 3.5 second to make a throw or get killed, any advantage a QB has in picking up hid receivers has to be a good thing, however slight it may be.

Conversely if the Bills are playing a team that also has white helmets, it will take away the advantage of the other teams QB to find his receiver.
