What came first the Franchise QB or the Egg?

Much has been made about the Bills needing to find another franchise QB since Jim Kelly. Yet have we forgotten that the Bills last made the playoffs in 1999. Why? Thanks in large part to guys like Bruce Smith, Ted Washington, Pat Williams, Phil Hansen, Marcellus Wiley and Sam Cowart or also known as the foundation to the 2nd best NFL defense. While I rag on Poz I can't say he's worse than John Holecek but I can argue that most of our D is a lot worse than we had in 1999 and don't think Fitz is worse than Doug Flutie. What say you?

Not Fitzpatrick. That is all we can come up with.

Good thread...if you build it they will come.

Just roll up your pant legs now...the bull**** gets deep...fast. In a matter of seconds it will be too late to save your shoes.

Build a solid defense and you can be patient looking for your 'franchise' QB, while competing and making the playoffs on a regular basis.

23 TD's with mediocre QB's, 15 INTS, 3,000 yards on the dot but an 81 rating.

Build the defense, but those type of numbers are OK in my book if we can't get a sure fire guy with our first pick.

Keep the games close with a solid defense, hope '11 can be a good year, then in 2012, right before the apocalypse, go 11-0
        Bye Bye Brady...

If you can't stop the run, you can't consistently win in the NFL. Period.

obviously the egg came 1st because when football was 1st played the forward pass hadn't been invented yet

i think we definately need to build our defense up first, and look for answers at QB in other places, like the 2012 draft. Fitz is more than servicable, but our defense is just horrendus, if it was even remotely servicable we likely would have won alot more games.

that #7 guy ( i hate him so much i refuse to use his name) was far worse for our franchise than fitz ever will be.

What?! Did you have an pleasant run-in with the guy, because he is not far worse than Fitz. Won more games, and had a better cereal!!

He could just as easily be referring to the other #7... a.k.a. 2009 UFL Champion J. P. Losman.

He means Flutie, trust me as a Flutie hater I know what he's referring to. As I always have to wonder had the Bills given the reigns back to RJ when he got hurt in 1998 would he ever developed into the QB that showed good things in the games prior to his injury (against San Fran and the Rams) or if he failed we likely would have gone after a QB sooner than later. Which means no Bledsoe, JP, Edwards and Fitzpatrick. Yet again as started this thread with think we should shore up the D before "finding a franchise QB" as YardRat put it so simply with his post.
