Who will be this year's surprise contributor?

What Bills player will surprisingly make significant contributions?

Last year's players could be Josh Reed & Coy Wire.

I think this year's surprises will be Angelo Crowell and Kevin Thomas. IMO, they will step up and help the team.

Kevin Thomas. I like this kid and hope he's the nickel all year.

I agree that Thomas will be stellar. I actually think he'll start making a pitch as the best cover CB the Bills have. I think that Winfield and Clements will still be able to cover the run far better than Thomas, but IMO Thomas' cover skills will rise to the top this season.

Reed will be huge too, but something's expected outta him.

So while I expect both to do very well, I'm thinkin' that Irons is gonna be the suprise player who makes that most significant contribution, especially the one who is responsible for the biggest improvement at play at his position.

I hope I'm right b/c we'll have a killer D if that happens!!! If it does, I'll say right now that we'll have a top 5 D league wide.

I'm not expecting anything out of our crop of rookies. Crowell is way to small to be anything other than a coverage LB in his first season. I have absolutely no faith in Kelsay as a 2nd rounder given his weaknesses. McG obviously isn't going to play the first 2/3 to 3/4 of the season. Aiken will be a backup and McGee will only make the team b/c he's a 4th round draft pick. Moulds, Reed, Jett, and Shaw will occupy the first 4 of 5 spots, so Aiken will by vying for that 5th spot. We're ear deep in decent depth for CBs and McGee will be vying for the team's 5th CB spot as well after Winfield, Clements, Thomas, Bostic.

I think Aiken will show signs but not what some people are thinking. First off there aren't enough balls to go around. Secondly I've heard people mention him in the same breath as "making up for Price" along with Reed. We already know Reeds game can be as effective but very different from Price's. The same for Aiken....He's NOT fast. He has good size, strength and hands but not speed. Forget him opening things up. I'm an ACC guy so I did get to see him play and he is impressive but he's not the speedster type. I don't expect an impact from him at all. I think he'll show signs of "wow" in the middle but will only have 15 or so grabs. He may work his way to the third spot in a year or two.

Last year I picked Peerless, no need to defend that choice.
This year, I like the Aiken choice very much and Kevin Williams, but am going to take a stab with Posey getting 10+ sacks.

Thomas I think will be the one BUT I also think that Ryan Denny may suprise us. He has put on some weight via muscle and has been working extreamly hard durring the off season.

Spikes? Man, I hope he didn't get paid a high salary to be a surprise player here! Hopefully Crowell will become a solid special teams player for us (especially on the coverage units, who really need difference makers!). As far as the free agents go, I think Posey will be a good one.
