There was a person that said there are not a lot of inter division trades in hockey in another thread. There are plenty in hockey.

here's a link to the trades made last year from Jan 1, 2010 to the trade deadline. 4 out of 52 trades...as I said, trades within a division don't happen that often.

Deal is done.

With defenceman Tomas Kaberle (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=tomas+kaberle) in the fold, the Boston Bruins made another big deal sending forward Blake Wheeler (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=blake+wheeler) and defenceman Mark Stuart (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=mark+stuart) to the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for centre Rich Peverley (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=rich+peverley) and defenceman Boris Valabik (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=boris+valabik).

Tomas Kaberle (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=tomas+kaberle)'s time as a Toronto Maple Leaf has finally come to an end.
After 12 seasons in blue and white, the Maple Leafs have traded the veteran defenceman to the Boston Bruins in exchange for prospect centre Joe Colborne (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=joe+colborne), the Bruins' first round pick in 2011 and a conditional draft pick.

That will be the big move at the trade deadline...I'm betting all other moves will be anti-climactic.

Two solid deals for the B's this week. Kelly debuts with the B's tonight

The key was getting Kaberle to waive the no trade clause....lots of rumor that Boston was only one of three cities he would accept a trade to.

I think Boston was the only city.

Man Atlanta is really showing some promise. They are making some smart moves these days.

Wheeler is terrible... he's the worst big man I have ever seen.

Paille from Sabres to Bruins
Kessell from Bruins to Leafs
kaberle from Leafs to Bruins
Dom Moore from Leafs to Sabres

These 3 teams don't seem to care that much in recent years.

Ottawa just sent Chris Kelly to Boston too. Sabres should have pulled the trigger on that for a 2nd round pick, we could have used a Center.

Wins are the only thing. There is like 5 people at every game, and they are trying to sell that they have Evander Kane and Big Buff to all the black folks to get them to come to the games, not working.

It's still a very small percentage of the total trades.

Small percentage, but the fact is these teams make up almost all of that small percentage in recent years, hence they are not afraid to trade in the division, I stand by what I said because it is true.

But you like Stuart right? Wheeler seemed decent when I saw him play. But I guess it has been a while since I have seen a Sabres vs Bs game.

Good trades for the Bruins. Love it. Getting stronger. I liked Stuart but he has been hurt and Bruins defense has been solid without him

I liked Stuart a lot but the Bruins seem to be happy with the way McQuaid has been playing. Wheeler has been on the block since OCt... everyone knew it was going to be him sent packing.

I think it couldve been McQuaid to go but his salary wouldnt have created enough space

You said they don't happen that often, not that they are a small percentage of all trades. Seems as if there are a few every year, that is pretty often.

If you think <7% of trades is often then you go with that.

No Leaf fans chiming in on this? Great trade for the Leafs. Getting a first round pick, and a first round talent prospect, for an aging Kaberle, who probably wasn't going to stay in Toronto after the season. Toronto has gotten 2 first round picks and 2 first round prospects, along with Lupul in the past week. Not too bad, if you ask me.
