View Full Version : Bills to host Bob Sanders on Tuesday

The Bills will host free agent SS Bob Sanders on Tuesday.
Sanders met with the Jaguars on Monday, but they're letting him leave without a contract. The 30-year-old's visit to Buffalo likely indicates that the club does not plan to bring back free agent SS Donte Whitner. Sanders would play strong safety for the Bills, book ending third-year FS Jairus Byrd.

If I'm not mistaken, he is from Erie. I bet that won't hurt their chances of landing him.

If Sanders can stay healthy, he's a huge difference make on D, especially in run support. It's not impossible that he can get back on the field. As an example, Woodson looked perpetually hurt and over the hill when GB signed him, and he's been DPOY and more since signing there.

When this guy is healthy, he is a top 3 safety in this league. Undoubtedly worth the risk.

Top 3?!?! I don't think he was top 5 a year ago. I will say that he is better than whitner though.

The last time the dude was healthy he won the defensive mvp. It's just been three years, and who knows if he can ever stay healthy.

i was thinking the exact same thing. i just looked up woodson's age and he is 34. if the bills could get 4 good years out of sanders, that would be awesome. he is head over heels better than whitner. plus, he doesn't have an obsession with twitter.

if he can come back to form he would be a huge signing

regardless this is sign that they are serious about getting better

i know i know hes oft injured but the risk reward is definitely worth it.

plus it would be someone who is used to winning

winning players have got to be a good thing

He has only played in nine regular season games in the last three seasons, but he would be a good signing? Get real people.

better days

I have heard that the Colts would like him back at a reduced salary. If that is the case it will most likely take a good amount of money to get him to sign with the Bills. Chances are he goes to the Colts & says the Jags & Bills offered me this amount, can you match it.

When healthy, easily a top 3 safety in this league.

For the right price, yea, worth the risk.

Waste of time even bringing him here to talk to in the first place.

Much rather have Atogwe who isn't hurt constantly.

If we sign Sanders, who's playing SS for at least 12 games next season?

But there's something to consider, Bills fans: Sanders is from Erie, Pa., and still lives there, the Colts' media guide states. Erie is 90 minutes west of Orchard Park on Interstate 90. He could visit his family every day if he wanted to.

That is exactly what is happening, but will the Colts bite.

Of course he's worth it at the right price, but what is that price? I would say 5 mm guaranteed and 3 mm a year is all I would be willing to risk if I were cutting the checks.

Free agent safety Bob Sanders is meeting with Defensive Coordinator George Edwards this evening.

Let the speculation of what this means begin!
I'll kick it off...BON VOYAGE WHITNER!

Interesting wording. On BB.com is says he "had" dinner with Sanders Tuesday evening. Whichever way, Sanders lives about 90 minutes away from the stadium.

We have nothing to lose, if he is hurt. CUT HIM. It will be a low dollar signing, incentive based I bet. RISK-REWARD People, Sheesh.

The difference between Sanders and Merriman is that Sanders still played at a high level when healthy. Merriman's injuries have reduced him to a shell of himself when he's playing.
If Sanders plays just one game this year, that will be one game in which the Bills defense would be better than it otherwise would be.

On a 4 win team, even a part time significant upgrade is an upgrade.
