It's on Sportscenter. Quick piece. If you get a chance, check it out.

Yeah, it's been playing all day long. It was pretty cool and he seems like a good kid. Plus he's got a good guy coaching him right now. I just hate his California surfer boy haircut...it reminds me of Rob Johnson, JP Losman and even Trent Edwards...

Just did, and I'm still not impressed with his release/speed. The guy seems to have really slow momentum on the ball. But I do like his confidence and, eh... I dunno with this guy.

Todd McShay thinks he is better than Newton for whatever that is worth.

He has the quickest release in this class IMO. It's very quick. Don't watch the slow throws in that practice setting, watch him in the games. His fast release is one of his best assets.

I meant his speed in his drop back/running. Seems like a Leftwhich to me, with the quick release but sloooow in his drop back. Behind this line, you need to do your 5 step, find your man and let it go under 3 seconds. Hell I want to say 2 seconds.

To be honest, if anything I thought he got happy feet too much and needed to be a bit more patient. He certainly can use development on his pocket presence, but it's not bad now IMO, and he makes a lot of plays when the play breaks down or on the run. I think he will develop just fine. I like his mental markup, he seems like a real bright kid, good leader, and dedicated to the game. I really don't have any real concern on him only think he's raw and will need to develop polish.

Wasn't it McShay that started the Gabbert hype train?

I couldn't really take him seriously b/c he looked like Sunshine from Remember the Titans.

Gabbert has the same release speed as Phillip Rivers IMO.

Much better mechanics, Rivers has the side armed release that almost looks like he pushes it. Gabbert has a nice 3/4 to over the top release.

Gabbert threw 16 td's and 9 ints last year in the pass happy big 12 that plays little defense. pass

Also had 3186 yards, completed 63.4% of his passes, and had a rating of 127.03. I'd take it.

What was his completion percentage on throws longer than 20 yrds?
