Imams in Iraq Preach Anti-U.S. Sermons
By TAREK AL-ISSAWI, Associated Press Writer
FALLUJAH, Iraq - Attacks against U.S. forces showed no sign of letting up Friday after a rocket-propelled grenade slammed into a power station in Fallujah, injuring two American soldiers and blacking out much of the city — a center of anti-American hostility.
At Friday prayers, imams preached anti-American sermons, claiming Jews are buying up real estate in Iraq (news - web sites). Based on groundless rumors, the warnings from pulpits, on leaflets and in Iraqi newspapers reflected Iraqis' fear and anger over the U.S.-led occupation.

There are ignorant people in all religions...even those that don't have a religion.

Pat Robertson regularly comes out against Canadians. Does that mean all Christians are jerks, too? Give your head a shake.

Sorry TB, I should clarify that say this demonstrates the intolerence by some within Islam.
I still find it troubling that the first avenue of action by all too many Imams and followers is to resort to bloodshed.

The IRA hardly can hold a candle to 1/100th of the radical Islamic groups out there.
Also, the IRA is a seperatist based movement more than anything else.

just because people do those acts and hide behind their religion, doesn't mean theres something wrong with the religion... show me where in Islam does it say you may kill people?
Just because they have a long beard and wear a short dishdasha, that makes them muslim?
I know lately those people have increased but those people aren't considered muslims here, they're terrorists killing innocent people.
im not gonna say anymore cuz i dont wanna hurt anybody's feeling...infact, im taking a break for today, i think i need some time out.

Good points TB. I just wish more folks would say the same. There are far too many Muslims around the world who by saying nothing, are basically condoning what the radical groups do.
I was watching some documentary the other night and it had some Islamic scholar on. He said that Islam and the Mid-East countries had taken a turn down the wrong path and that serious reform was needed by a large portion of the Mid-East governments and by the religion itself. He made some compelling points that anybody would be hard pressed to argue against.

Or the fact that they can assemble in peace, or the fact that they can DISSAGREE with us being there and not be shot or have a hand cut off. I just don't understand how any one can think that they were better off before With Sadam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is what I was going to say. They say islam is a peaceful religion, but they were to damn quiet for my liking after the 11th.If they were so peaceful than they should have been screaming bloody murder. But hardly a peep came out of them.So that tells me ,that they were not to upset at what happened.

Funny thing but the only islamic people that came to your defence were the iranian people, and they were out there because they were upset at what happened not because their gov told them to, to look good in the american eyes.

Their are over 1 Billion Muslims in the world (actually, I think I read the number is over 2 Billion); many live in countries with harsh dictators, opposing governments that barely tolerate them or oppressive regimes where if they speak out they risk persecution. I am not surprised there was not more outrage after 9/11 on their part.
