    Ricky Stanzi

I thought this was an interesting read at the very least. I don't watch much college football. Thoughts on this?

    Here's the theory and explanation

    Here's the Ricky Stanzi part...

lol is the Gabbert balloon starting to lose air already? joking, but seriously, how many of these QBs do you actually believe are even going to get an opportunity to prove they can be elite? 3 or 4 tops is my guess. The majority of these QB prospects will be lucky to make the teams they might get drafted by. JMO

yeah that was a fun read. Kind of re-iterates the QB discussions we've had here. (you know the ones where discussion takes precedent over cheer leading)

There are intangibles that do seem to separate QB's. It's not full proof, but it is interesting. I think these systems are here to reduce the chances of busts, not so much to determine who is franchise.

Stanzi problem is he kind of tanked in the senior bowl, his bowl game against Missouri, and his combine workouts. It will be of interest to see how far he falls or if someone uses these metrics to grab him earlier then anticipated.

Stanzi was my 3rd rank QB behind Luck and Mallet. Since Luck didn't come out Stanzi might be my #1.

Nice find, Mindbender. Interesting, but at the same time...
For simplicity, (crazy example) if every ultimately successful QB in the NFL averaged 3.0+ Passing TDs per game in college, and we set a bench mark for 100.0% grade in that category at 3.0 TDs -- then if a particular QB averaged 4.0 TDs, he would score a 1.250 in our system for that category.
I have a bit of a hard time trusting his math after this part. Last I checked, 4.0 divided by 3.0 would be 1.333, not 1.250. Unless I'm missing something in this quick skim of the article.

I'm also a little wary of him labeling Mark Sanchez as "good/great."

If the Wonderlic info is all he needs, it would be pretty easy to just plot the prospect's score vs. possibly Wonderlic score. Basically, show what that player's "rating" would be in his system if he scored X on his Wonderlic. Then he could see what score the player needs on the Wonderlic to cross that threshold value of 0.850.

I'd much rather have this guy later in the draft than waste our first rounder on newton or gabbert. His accuracy looks awesome but im not sure on the arm strength. Not one of those balls had a ton of zip on it. One thing is for sure...he isn't a check down, dump off guy like gabbert.

At 3:30 of the video....those are throws I look for in a qb. Those are throws I see Brady, Rodgers ,Brees , Manning make. They throw in between defenders or in tight windows.
Something I hardly ever see in Newton. He usually makes throws over defenders which is no biggie. JP made those throws easily.
