ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper hosted a media conference call on Wednesday morning. Toward the end of the call, Kiper was asked about Auburn quarterback Cam Newton, and the possibility that the 2010 Heisman winner might land with the Bills.

Kiper says he’s spoken to people he “trusts” in the league, and came away feeling that Newton isn’t necessarily on Buffalo’s radar.

“(Ryan) Fitzpatrick, to me, was a very good quarterback,” Kiper insisted. Fitzpatrick, on his third NFL team at age 28, started 13 games last season and went 4-9.

Just checked it out. I'm surprised he's go Gabbert going #1.

I heard on local sports radio here in Denver yesterday that the Broncos met with Fairley at the combine for an unusually long amount of time.

Mayock loves his physical ability, but questions his intangibles. He thinks Newton is the 3rd best QB in the draft behind Gabbert & Locker.

really? You think Henne, Derek Anderson, SHaun Hill, Campbell.... were better?

One could even argue that Fitz had a better year than Farve.

Henne has just about same career stats as Fitz. All 4 are below average. Shaun Hill is better, look at his career stats. 39 TDs, 23 INTs. Fitz has 44 TD and 42 INT.

Kiper could very well be right. Personally, I think the Bills are very interested in Newton.
