Finally got what he deserves.I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

the guy deserves to get three headshots and then be asked to play the next day. That would be justice.

I would guess the NHLPA would fight pretty hard to avoid having contracts being voided. This is like a Fred Phelps freedom of speech case. The players in total probably are against the cheapness of Matt Cooke, but if there is precedent for owners to lose interest in a player and void their contract without paying that will open a can of worms where players like Hecht who are past their prime could just be voided.
Players who aren't dirty but just a financial nuissance could be cut. Plus there is a risk with signing "enforcers" like cooke. The penguins knew what they were getting into. They shouldn't be able to pretend that they thought they were just getting a solid hockey player. They took the risk, it's currently hurting them in the wallet. Not our problem. we signed a bunch of guys who will never do that. And they don't play on edge consitently and that's the risk we took.Comment
