Based on what it sounded like after last nights game Tuukka is getting the next two starts. Therefore Tim Thomas will be passing Hasek with the best single season save percentage.

Thomas now holds the #1 and #3 spot in that category. The new record is .938. Kudo's to TTT.

hasek started 10 more games, no way thomas breaks it if he played the same amount as hasek.

Props to Thomas...that is a heck of accomplishment especially after being mediocre last year.

Too bad he couldn't show up against the Rangers.

Blasphemers. TTT is the God of Goalies. He's the best there ever was, the best now, and the best there ever will be.

He has had a great season. Can't deny him that. Hasek did it in only 8 more games. But I think Boston's talent is far greater than Buffalo's talent around the goalies.

Right there's also shoot outs now... the game is way more offensive than it was in 99.

I long for the day when we can finally stop talking about how the opposition is so much more talented than the Bills and the Sabres.

Regardless of what happens to the Sabres in the post season they have responded to the new ownership. I think you guys have a lot to look forward too.

July 1st can't come soon enough to see if we can really begin to believe.

While Thomas' season and comeback from last season is quite impressive, I don't see him as being the Hart MVP player that Hasek was called on to be - to essentially be the team.

I'm curious how many shots Hasek faced, compared with Thomas? Though even this comparison ignores the qualitative side of the equation that can never be quantified.

And how many one-goal contests did Hasek win, as compared with Thomas? Team goal differential would also be interesting to look at.

At the end of the day, just even looking at the rosters each 'tender had, Hasek looks like he played behind garbage compared to the luxury list of players Thomas has in front of him.

Kudos to him.

However, even if Thomas plays for Buffalo, wins a Cup, Super Bowl, builds a new Peace Bridge, revitalizes the waterfront, gets rid of the Cheerios smell, and finds a way to stop lake effect snow, he'll still never come close to Hasek.

why would you want to get rid of the Cherios smell? cities can smell a lot worse than that...

I was thinking that exactly. I loved that smell when I worked downtown some mornings.

On Saturday during the Bandits game, a sewer/water pipe broke in the Arena, so that night it DID smell a lot worse than Cheerios I promise you that.

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/09/tim-thomas-sets-new-single-season-nhl-record-for-save-percentage/

With the Bruins playing tomorrow and Tuukka Rask (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NHL&id=2067) getting the start then against New Jersey (http://twitter.com/#!/NHLBruins/status/56813208522063872), Thomas broke Dominik Hasek’s single-season save percentage record (http://www.csnne.com/04/09/11/BruinsSenators-5-from-the-Third/landing_bruins.html?blockID=500680&feedID=3944) finishing the year with a .9381 mark. Hasek set the record in the 1998-1999 season with a .937 save percentage as he was under siege that season and led the Buffalo Sabres to the Stanley Cup final. That season Hasek won the Vezina Trophy as the league’s top goaltender. All signs would point to a similar honor coming for Thomas at the end of this season.

Don't think Thomas will get the MVP. Great season by Thomas, congrats.

I dont think so either... a lot of great offensive performances this year.

He should be a lock for the Vezina though. And he'll see a few MVP votes.

the average goals scored per game this year is 0.12 higher this year then that year

Hasek faced more shots, but in playing 10 more games that's to be expected. Thomas actually faced 2 more shots per game then Hasek did (31 to 29).

Congrats to Tim Thomas for the great year.
