Before you can trade down, you need a willing trade partner with enough trading value to make it worthwhile. What is even worse is that there is no rookie wage scale yet. In all likely events, this will be the last year without one. So You can expect agents of these rookies to get the top dollar value possible. That means in all likely hood that who ever is the pick at 3, he isn't going to come cheap. I'm sure every team in the NFL knows that. It's why in my opinion as of recently makes trading out of number 3 virtually impossible unless a team behind us is extremely desperate.

There won't be a CBA before the draft. So that means a rookie scale if there is one wont even be in effect until the 2012 season at the earliest even after a CBA is implemented. It could even be 2013 before we see a rookie wage scale or cap.

I think a rookie wage scale could be implemented even after the draft with a new CBA.

I think this is one issue that both owners & players can agree on as it will benefit both.

Do not expect to see teams sign picks until after the new CBA is in place.

Here is my bold prediction. The Patriots will do the unthinkable, and draft a QB in the first round. That QB will be Ryan Mallet. Why do I think it can happen? because they are one of only a very few teams in this draft who could get away with drafting a first round QB, and not have to plug him in from day one. As Buddy Nix says, "If you wait till you have no QB to draft one, your too late". They have the picks to spend, and the timing couldn't be better for it. Will it happen? probably not, but that's why its a bold prediction. lol

Funny how my bold prediction was Mallet to the Patriots, and they took him. They just didn't take him in the round I thought they would. lol I was only joking around at the time which is what makes that funny to me.
