what happens if the owners don't stand in unison?

This is way out there, and really just out of hypothetical situations.

Could say the Bills and a few teams say, "to hell with the dan synders and krafts of this world. We are holding our season. Players report. We'll pay you."

And then have a season with just the reporting teams play?

I'm just curious as we heard stories about some players kind of fracturing with the union. So is it possible for the owners to not all be on the same page and still attempt to have a season?

Not under the name of the National Football League they can't have their own season.

so the bills couldn't deviate from the plan and be that year's champs, eh?

I guess we could in a one team league. Sure.

I would think that a majority of owners have other streams of revenue and that the NFL is just a "hobby" to them. I think they can afford to hold out and not play. There are also the teams that claim that they are better off without a season. I don't think we have to worry about the owners and their unison. Wait until these players start missing paychecks.

i put the odds at 50-50. The bills would find a way to make it impossible.

Goodell pretty much said after last night's ruling that the league can no longer enforce any rules because of the threat of antitrust suits, unless a new CBA is signed. So, in effect, the Bills could, right now, jump to the UFL or the CFL if they wanted to and either league is willing to take them. Not that I think they will (a UFL team is worth about 1-2% of that of an NFL franchise, although adding an existing NFL team would boost that considerably)... but it's theoretically possible.
