Danny Briere had six goals and an assist in the series.

Anyone doubt that this series would have been over already had he been on the other team? That the Sabres would even be a real contender with the guy who led the playoffs in scoring last year?

What a dark, horrible day for this franchise. Five years later, they're still not recovered from it, which is why it's still relevant. It took a new owner to give them a shred of hope for the future.

Go Danny, I hope you win the Cup you so richly deserve. I wish I could apologize for how unbelievably stupid this team was to let you go.

F U, Larry Quinn, and Darcy's not off the hook either as far as I'm concerned. He has to earn his redemption.

The summer of 2006 may be the worst single period in the history of Buffalo sports, since it was also the beginning of the Levy/Jauron regime.
Please, Terry, buy the Bills too and deliver us from this perpetual shame and despair.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The Sabres have been almost as mismanaged as the Bills have under Ralph Wilson Jr.

The decision not to lock him up was in 06. He got a one-year deal and was as good as gone after that.

Thankfully the people behind those decisions are now gone.

The sad thing is that Briere is the one that many of you didn't think we would miss. Everyone cried about losing Drury, but Briere has been the better one.

Briere never showed up when the Sabs were in the playoffs.

He was playing over his head in this series to stick it to his old team.

He'll be lucky to get a goal and a couple assists in the next round.

That is not true at all
2005-2006: 18 gp, 8 goals 11 assists 19 points

2006-2007 16 gp 3 goals, 12 assists 15 points

Totals: 34 gp 11 goals, 23 assists 34 points (including 3 gwg)

To paraphrase somebody: Wrong as usual Historian........

I couldn't believe I read that. On GR the other day, they said that Briere has the most points of all NHL players since the lockout in the playoffs.

This loss is very depressing. Its not just that our seasons over, and we got obliterated by a guy who should still be here, but its that we lost to ****ing Phily. Phily's players, fans, coach, and even there uniforms suck ***!!! I hope they get swept by Washington. **** Phily

You do know that the only chance they have of playing Washington is if they both win the next round. As of now, Philly can only play Boston, Pittsburgh or Tampa Bay. If Boston wins, they play them automatically. If not, they play the winner of the other game.
