Anyone know how long the 1st round lasted last year? Do they still get 15 mins per pick? If all teams take their 15 mins, which they all won't, we could be looking at a very late night.

It should start earlier, like 6.

Damn west coast.

I thought they reduced it from 15 to 10 a couple years back in order to pick up the pace. Unless they went back to 15 last year, it should still be at 10.

I thought that was just for the 2nd round? I could definitely be wrong.

No, it used to be 15 for the 1st, 10 for the 2nd, then 5 for each subsequent.

Now, it's 10 for the 1st, 7 for the 2nd, then 5 for each subsequent.

10 minutes per 1st round pick, 7 minutes per second round pick and 5 minutes for each pick in 3rd-7th rounds.

I still wish it was on Saturday afternoon. Paired with the right NHL playoff schedule, that turned into an epic day of drinking.

If I remember correctly from years past, they usually wait until right before and then again right after the Bills pick to start running thier commercials.

If everybody gets ten minutes and uses them, the first round would last 5 hours and 20 minutes. That means it wouldn't be over until about 1:30 in the morning Buffalo time.

I don't think it'll last that long though. No way everybody uses all their time.

The problem with taping it is that the 2nd and 3rd rounds start at 6PM the next day. I may have to stay up and watch it, which is what I'll probably do.

Yeah me too. The 1st round of the draft is one of my favorite days of the year.

Same here.

But they made the change to get more advertising $ by turning it into a media event. But if I were an owner, I would have fought against the change. I'm making multi-million $ decisions, and I would not like a reduction in the time allotted to make those decisions, or work out a trade.

Well, I guess they know. The NFL is great at squeezing a nickel until the buffalo defecates...

I'm pretty sure the first round allows 10 minutes per team.

I could be wrong but I think the GMs like it spread over three days. It gives them time between days to reaccess everything between days, work the phones if necessary for potential trades.
To have the second pick in round two many teams will be calling Buffalo tomorrow throughout the day with trade offers for their pick because someone they like fell out of round one. It gives the Bills time to go over the trades and see if it is worth trading that pick.
