    Maybe I'm Goofy...

    But perhaps I'm on to something.

    Goodell has issued a statement today regarding the potential ramifications of judicial rulings on the NFL. It's very doom and gloom... http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...526726626.html

    It actually spawned a thought in this old codgers heard...

    Let me start by saying that I actually side with the owners on this whole issue. Regardless... Goodell makes some valid points. But I think I'm starting to see a bigger picture... Perhaps a picture that the heads of the union (driven by the worthless money grabbing agents) have had their eyes on... That is increasing the impact of the CFL. How many of you think, given the points that Goodell has made, that the CFL could grow into a more viable option for players? And the increased power of the CFL would actually serve to bring some competition for player's services.

    Just a bit of abstract thinking.

    Not one fan south of the Mason-Dixon line will watch one down of the CFL. They will be more than content to watch college football and leave the pros to rot.

      ...and that is not a knock on Southerners. The SEC is a super conference and many people that far south have never even seen a CFL game.

        I totally understand your statement. But the point is this... If it becomes less attractive for players to sign with NFL clubs, it's no longer a huge reach for the CFL to scoop some of these guys up. This would tilt the scales a bit and perhaps give the CFL some momentum in closing the gap. It's not entirely impossible... And it would benefit (by expanding the market) the long term gain of the agents.

          WFL - Fail
          USFL - Fail

          CFL - won't succeed.

            AFL did it. If my theory is correct, CFL has help that the CFL never dreamed of..

              I was a big CFL fan when I lived in Bflo.

                        I don't think their is much value in that article at all. It's nothing more then a piece designed to put some fear into the fans minds and sway public opinion over to the owners...

                        their sure ain't no value in the CFL because I know I'm not going to watch a CFL game no matter who signs in that league... as I am sure most won't
