    Panthers talking contract?

    Buffalo Rumblings

Auburn quarterback Cam Newton has been projected as the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft for many weeks - essentially, since late February or early March. Over the past week or so, however, some doubt has crept into the Newton-to-Carolina thought process, even though it's remained the pick in mock drafts everywhere.

Now, roughly nine hours before the Panthers are on the clock, rumors are starting to surface (via Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post) that Carolina has already "unofficially outlined contract parameters" with Newton and his agents. Obviously, a deal can't be agreed to until the league's labor situation sorts itself out, but it could serve as an indication that Newton is, as expected, going to be the top pick.
"Talk is cheap, we all know that. It's like I've always said, don't tell me about the labor pains, just show me the baby. That's what we've got to do. We've got to show you the baby, and the baby is winning." ~Buddy Nix

Gee, what a surprise to those of us who have known about this for a while.

Why would they do that now if a cap could still be put in place for this year's picks?

Not negotiating terms, just seeing what he's looking for.

And as PSU pointed out and Ive said for weeks, Cam is the pick tonight at #1.

They're allowed to "unofficially" talk terms with no CBA in place?
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

With the lockout lifted and no stay ordered, I believe anything goes right now
