Thomas Jones finally spoke this week about the infamous phone accident surrounding his broken hand, and the former Arizona Cardinals running back is sticking to his story.
“You can’t make everyone believe you,” Jones told Tampa-area reporters this week. “All you can do is tell the truth and go about your business and hope everything works out.
“A lot of people don’t believe me.”
Jones, traded last week to Tampa Bay for receiver Marquise Walker, disappeared from the Cardinals complex last season when he broke the hand, claiming he had done so at home reaching for a telephone. He missed the final five games and the Cardinals withheld a prorated portion of his salary because of the non-football injury.
