Colin Kaepernick anyone?

I'm not saying I want the Bills to draft him -- I actually don't know much about the guy.

But between Mallett, Kaepernick, and Dalton, what's the consensus?

No QB we draft would have to start right away.

You're not gonna find a consensus, rather opinions that are all over the place.

I personally don't want any of them. I'd take Kaepernick in the 3rd as a deep project (backup) and still plan on taking a Franchise QB next year.

In the 2nd round I'd want Rudolph or Bowers if his knee checks out, if it doesn't then I'd want the best available OLB according to Nix...Ayers, Wilson?

Puke. Kid was a 4th rounder like a month ago. Now people were talking about him going in the 1st and early 2nd? He's a huge project. I'd rather go with someone who will probably start day 1 and contribute.

Colin Kaepernick anyone?

The last thing we got to do is reach for a QB. I don't like Mallet or Ayers though.

Isn't this the same thread as the one about who we are picking, except, instead of commenting in that thread, this guy decided to tell the whole board in his own thread?

The kid has no bidness playing qb in the nfl. Goofy/slow release will result in interceptions and sacks.

Mallet is by far the best option there at 34.

Nix said he want's to get another starter at 34. I really doubt we go QB, I think the Bill's would have considered Ponder in the second but that's about it.

I'll puke if we take any QB left on the board in round 2. damn there is an abundance of talent at the board that could start at many positions on our roster... anything but QB

I'm praying it's ayers. Guy is a big time talent who hasn't come close to reaching his potential due to the poor coaching he received at UCLA. He's going to be a legit starting LB in this league for years to come. A dareus-ayers combo would make this a great draft regardless of what follows. Get'er done Buddy!

Mallet could be the pick, we will see. But if the Bills do get him, I'd spend next years draft on stocking that Oline. Mallet isn't very mobile. He is a whole lot like Drew Bledsoe, dangerous in the pocket when he has time to throw, but He might find himself in trouble a lot if he holds on to the ball too long. He wont out run anyone at the NFL level. JMO

You think there's a 2nd round grade OT left?

Pick 34 has to be either an OLB or the best OT available. As far as I'm concerned, picking a Qb in this draft would be to use him as a backup, and we can hold off until the later rounds for that. We need to draft someone who can start this year.

Before the draft if you told me We'd wind up with dareus and either Mallett or Dalton in rnd 2 I'd be like yeah right. But jump at it in a heartbeat

But now we are there. But who thought Bowers, Ayers, Reed, A. Williams, Rudolph, Wilson, Torrey Smith and Hankerson would ALL also be available.

Now that the QB future could be shored up with Dalton/Mallett I find myself saying Adam Weber could be a 5th or 6th rnd steal. Really can't go QB with the other guys that are still there now can we?

To be honest I wouldn't mind a guard or center either if they feel no OT is valued at that position.

Hudson/Wisniewski would be a great addition as well.

Or we could take the Ginger. Tons of options.

I'd rather go OL/TE myself, need to get better up front on both sides.

I am in shock that Da'Quan Bowers is there, I can't argue if they take him and can have a dominant DL down the road, something we have all be coveting for years.

I think Mallett has the same boom bust potential as Newton -- only now you can take that gamble with a second rounder. Personally, I would take Houston or Ayers at #34 and work a trade back into the second to grab Mallett, though I imagine that would not be a popular strategy with most Bills' fans.

according to my smartass girlfriend I would stay away from bowers:

its called degenerative joint disease or Osteoarthritis which becomes progressive. you can reduce pain and swelling but you cant stop the decrease in joint space or bony spur development

I'm 1000% uninterested in the statue Mallet...

The #34 pick has to be a LB'er IMO... only 1 LB'er drafted in round 1.

At #34...
Best pick = LB (Ayers, Reed, Houston)
Risky but potential for HUGE payoff = Bowers
Useful but not sexy pick = TE (Rudolph)
Pick that would do us no good in 2011 = QB (any of them)

I wonder if there may be a way to regrow cartilage in the lab one day? U of Pitt is a leading research facility in that field.

bowers or akeem ayers will be the pick. bowers across from merriman with edwards, williams, and dareus up front is lethal. there is not a qb left in this draft that we have enough talent to give him to win. look for tyrod taylor to be the qb picked in round 3. there are still 3 PRIME defensive players left that were unexpected. buffalo will take 1 of them and either trade back into the second or stay in the 3rd and take taylor.

he'll play and playing on on second and 3rd downs will pro long his career as another rush linebacker

We have the worst group of linebackers in the league. Merriman has been finished for almost three years now - we can't refer to this guy as if he's going to contribute for us, let alone start. It's absolutely essential that we upgrade at this position.

Brooks Reed is a high motor guy like a Schoebel, while Akeem Ayers is a more gifted athlete and he's a year younger. I want Ayers to be the guy but I won't cry if we end up with Reed.

Gailey doesn't use TE's in passing game enough

In 2008, Gailey returned to the NFL as the offensive coordinator with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs had a duo of 1,000-yard receivers - TE Tony Gonzalez and WR Dwayne Bowe - marking the third time in team history.
