Not the worst pick in the world, but not the best either. As I stated before, DB depth is due for some fresh faces so this is an upgrade.

Still, I think there were more ideal positions that could have been filled in this round. Maybe there'll be some trading up, IDK.

Ahhh just as I suspected all the idiots are upset because they don't know enough about football to know who Aaron williams is. The guy was one of the best available players. Florence is now gone for sure, which is fine with me.

This. He's our new starter at SS.

Mayock is basically saying that and the write-ups say he projects as a safety. Rated 1st/2nd round talent in Ourlads with a 9.03 overall rating. Slaps down a lot of balls.

As someone who lives in the heart of big 12 land let me tell you that the kid is a player and was well worth the 34th overall pick. Should we have taken him with so many other needs? Meh. It's debatable. But he's going to start from day one and he can play ball. Some thought he was going to go late 1st. not a reach, he's just not a sexy pick.

I wasn't a huge fan at first, due to all the LBs still being there. But I can live with it, especially if it means that Donte Whitner is gone. A lot of mock drafts had him going to the Steelers in the 1st round. So it's not a reach. And we did need a SS and/or CB. So it fills a need.

justasportsfan

Mayock has him ranked as best sfety in this years draft
Safeties

1. Aaron Williams, Texas
2. Rahim Moore, UCLA
3. Marcus Gilchrist, Clemson
4. Ahmad Black, Florida
5. Quinton Carter, Oklahoma

o Mayock has finally moved Aaron Williams to safety and the number one overall. Both he and Deion were convinced it was his best position during the combine, early second projection. Sash was dropped.

I didn't really expect this, though I did see on Drafttek, on their continuous computer simulation after the first round they projected Williams to the Bills. My hope was the Bills would be able to retain their important secondary players so they could use the draft to upgrade areas where they are weaker, but if Nix is pretty sure he's going to lose some starters either through free agency or the team's own choice, then you've got to replace them.

Drafttek is simulating Ricky Stanzi to Buffalo in the third.

What I posed was a hypothetical question, not to be taken literally as there is no way of knowing the outcome. Likewise it's impossible for me to answer your second question ( I answered your first) because I cannot predict the future. It would have depended, of course, on what the position of need of the next few teams was.

I was trying to pick the brains of those posting on here. I thought front seven help was a more immediate need and the defense as a whole would have been most positively affected by addressing the LB position.

Guy was projected late first-early second by "the experts" so wouldnt call it a reach by any means
He played well for a big time school Texas against tough competition every week
He is Pro ready, good size, measurables
Fills a need and gives up some depth for sure. Can play DB/S.Special teams. Looks like maybe play right away.

Lol. I'm impressed...you can rattle off names on the roster.

While you're talking about other people not watching games...you didn't happen to notice teams running for 200 yards on these guys you named, did you?

You didn't happen to notice the ease at which opposing RB's were going around and through these people, did you?

But I'm impressed, you even spelled their names right.

Evaluating how well they played....that's another matter.

You don't really think Dareus fixes the run D by himself, do you?

But what the hell, some haven't met a DB draft choice they didn't like.

2011 NFL Draft: Mel Kiper Calls Aaron Williams A Top Steal (http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2011/5/4/2152949/Mel-kiper-aaron-williams-2011-NFL-Draft-Results)

"He wound up going 34. I thought he’d be a late one," said Kiper. "I thought teams like Philadelphia would look at him and some of those teams late (in the first). To get him where they did, that’s a nice pick there."

Because of the great value, Kiper listed Williams among his top steals (https://twitter.com/#%21/MelKiperESPN/status/65476264517054466) of the 2011 NFL Draft.

"Aaron Williams I really like at that point where [the Bills] got him," said Kiper this week. "He can play corner, he can play safety, he’s the toughest run support corner that I’ve graded in the last five years."

Anyone see the GameChangers episode featuring Aarong Williams and Prince Amukamara hit the field with Steve Mariucci and go through different aspects of being a corner and then hit the film room. I think Williams looked much better than Prince on the field. Prince didn't look like he was taking it very seriously though. Still, Williams has amazing body control in the air. He also looked really good on the white board and breaking down film.

Maybe they should try him out at WR. He gets up there and just snatches that ball out of the air.
