I noticed that no one posted the thread, so I figured I would. McShay seemed to like it and said he's a ball hawk. This is what Adam Shefter said....

Buffalo knows where it needed help. Bills first four picks have been defensive players, including fourth-round pick, S Da'Norris Searcy.

It's always funny when we draft a DB. People starting crapping their pants and complain non stop.

Don't know anything about him so I'll trust Nix on this one. I guess he meant it when he talked about fixing the defense.

DA'NORRIS SEARCY North Carolina 5-10½ 223 4.57 3-4
Two-year starter with five interceptions. "He's a violent and reliable tackler," one scout said. "When he tackles you, you go down. He runs the back end of that defense. Pretty impressive. Extremely, extremely physical. You see him fill with a fierceness. On the back end, if there will be a catch made in front of him, you know it will be stopped right there." Hails from Decatur, Ga. "Yeah, he is a good player, but he doesn't run fast," another scout said. "It's hard to play in this league, and it's especially hard to play Cover 2, if you don't have range. And he doesn't run fast enough. The numbers just scare me."

Its even funnier because they are the ones complaining about our DBs we have now.

This pick allows Williams to stay on the corner.

Looks like Donte will have to find a new home. I think he will regret he did not take the Bills offer.

we are going to have plenty of depth on defense for a change

I like all the size we are adding, all the guys on D we picked are big for their position.

I see what Nix is up to, and I like it. Looks like the Jauron era defense is finally coming to a close this year!!

And all these guys are used to blitzing and being in multiple positions. So very good for our d!

He's a punishing tackler. Something Whitner always claimed he was but never showed.

So this team still has glaring holes at backup/future starting QB, OT (still) and TE... and blows all four of the first four picks on defensemen. As much as the D needed help, the absolute ignorance the team has given to the offensive side of the ball is maddening. At least one of the picks could have gone to someone on the O, right?

Here's the comments from BB.com on him:

http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-1/Transcript-Darrell-Moody-on-DaNorris-Searcy/b5184669-0014-402c-951c-26c92db1cd5f

Basically they want the S's to be able to play either spot and they think they got that.

"The way you play safety now with the way offenses play, the offense can make your strong safety play free safety and make your free safety play strong safety. So as a result of it, he’s played both. If you had your ideal situation, he would be a strong safety."

"If offenses in college can make a strong safety play free safety, you can rest assured that the offenses in the pros can do that same thing and will do the same thing. I don’t know in this day and age that you can have a pure strong safety or a pure free safety. They’ve got to be able to do both. Usually they’re better at one than the other, but if they can’t do both they’re going to get exposed."

Take it easy on me... I'm at work here, posting on break, so I'm not caught up with everything. But, considering how the rest of the draft played out... my point still stands.
