    Top picks pose new challenges

    Chris Palmer suffered through the anxiety of picking No. 1 in the NFL Draft three times in a four-year span.

    While he was Cleveland's coach, he was at the forefront of the decision-making process as the expansion Browns selected quarterback Tim Couch in 1999 and defensive end Courtney Brown in 2000. Now offensive coordinator of the expansion Texans, Palmer wasn't making the final call as Houston tabbed quarterback David Carr in 2002.

    If Palmer learned anything from all that, it might be ``There's no such thing as a slam dunk.''

    ``Today you can say it's a slam dunk, but will you be saying the same thing five years from now?'' he said.
