Green Bay - Green Bay linebackers coach Mark Duffner is unlike the rest of the Packer brass.
When practices end, most of Green Bay's coaches jump in their respective vehicles and drive the short distance back to team headquarters. Duffner, on the other hand, takes the less conventional route and pedals back on his 10-speed bicycle.
Make no mistake about it, though. No one in the Packer coaching regime has a greater need for speed than Duffner. Especially after last season.
A year ago, Green Bay's linebacker corps was among the NFL's slowest and least productive units. Now, after an off-season of upgrades and replacement parts, the Packers are hoping to be closer to the fast lane.
"I think we're going to have a lot more speed this year," said Na'il Diggs, the lone holdover from last year's starting group. "It seems to be more of the evolution of linebackers right now. As offenses get faster and do new things, certain things got to change on defense. And no doubt we have more speed on our team right now as far as the linebacker position goes."
