All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

Aaron has been an Epic Bust but Robert Ayers on Denver who was a strong option has also been a huge bust. His failed stint at OLB has now moved him back to DE where he will compete with Jeremy Beal a 7th round pick. Everette Brown, Larry English, Everette Brown, Aaron Maybin, and Ayers have all been failures thus far. Only Orakpo has been solid.
I was more than prepared to give Maybin a chance, due to his leg-end-ary quick first step, as you simply cannot teach that, and it was, after all, pretty much what got him selected. That's all done now, it's put up, or go away and be a tart somewhere else.
For the record, I would've picked Oher. Somehow, even if we traded down a bit.
Orakpo was a good alternative, as was the mooted choice of Modrak, which was Cushing.
I honestly cannot think of a worse pick we have made, in years. That isn't Maybin's fault, but it's been an utter waste from the get go so far.

2009 DE Class was far overhyped and overrated.
Why are you using a pic of McCargo as your avatar?
Yes, but they traded their 1st the following year (2010) for him. They basically traded their 1st in 2010 for a 2009 1st and 4th. They selected DE Everett Brown and RB Mike Goodson (who played pretty well last year). The 1st they gave up went to SF and ended up being OG Mike Iupati.
If it makes you guys feel any better, the Browns came out of that draft with an 'A' according to NFL.com. Tops in class. That was the year they traded away Kellen Winslow and gave away the #5 pick to the Jets.
The trade was essentially this:
CLE gets:
#17
Jets' 2nd-rounder
Jets' 5th rounder
Abram Elam UFA, not likely to be asked to come back
Kenyon Coleman no longer on roster
Brett Ratliff long gone
NYJ Gets:
#5 Overall (Sanchez)
Here's what they took in that draft:
1. C Alex Mack -- solid player, but after trading down from #5 you walk away with a center and your main prize? Leaving Clay Matthews and Michael Oher on the board? current status -- Starter
2a. WR Brian Robiskie -- He's done nothing, but that has more to do with the "offense" the Browns have run. current status -- on roster
2b (from Tampa). WR Mohammed Massaquoi -- he's been pretty awful. Doesn't run good routes, doesn't locate the ball, drops too many. current status -- on roster
2c (from NYJ). DE/OLB/ILB? David Veikune -- what an unbelievable waste of a pick. With the last two picks every Browns fan was clamoring for LeSean McCoy and Phil Loadholt and we came away with this pile of garbage. current status -- out of football
4. ILB/OLB? Kaluka Maiava -- Mangini came out and said "We drafted him because he hunts boars with knives." Way to go, idiot. They didn't draft the LB I wanted here, who by the way was 1st-team all Pac 10 and had played in a 3-4 in college. That guy is starting for Detroit now. current status -- roster bubble, likely to be cut
6a. CB/S Don Carey -- Mangini put him on waivers in training camp hoping he'd clear so he could stash him on IR and not lose one of his 80 roster spots. Well, the Jags claimed him. He starts for them at safety, although he has not been very good there. current status -- plays for Jags
6b. CB Coye Francies -- this looked like a great value pick. He was originally thought to be a 2nd or 3rd rounder. He played well in preseason but didn't make it onto the field on gameday. He was stashed on the practice squad, picked up by another team, then released. He was back on the Browns roster as a reserve last year but still didn't see the field much. Thought to be in Mangini's (large) doghouse. current status -- on Browns' roster
6c. RB James Davis -- another terrific late value. Played well in backup role when given a chance, but later released after being a pouter. current status -- backup for Washington
So the Browns, who were thought by some to have the best draft in the NFL that year, came away with a starting center and a couple of backups at Wide Receiver, while coming into the draft with the #5 overall pick.
