Re: Nix explains QB plans , spiller etc.
- Will look for both a seasoned veteran and a young developmental guy.
-Would like to a vet guy who has played in the league and has won some games.
-Will bring in 2 QBs. If college UFA opens up and there's a young guy we'll bring them him, otherwise two veterans.
-Thinks maybe first 5 players selected have a chance to be a starter.
-They are not disappointed with Spiller. Said if you watch the tape you realize why he struggled. They were "feeling our way with our staff, and feeling our way with him."
-Essentially they knew his forte was to be put in space and on the edge but they still tried to do "what they've been doing." (Assuming that meant running him up the middle like Freddy?)
-However, part of it is on him. Spiller made the jump from minicamps to OTAs and OTAs to Training Camp but struggled when he started playing the guys he has to play week in and week out.www.billsaddiction.com -The Home of Bills Addicts-

I'm not opposed to complimenting him with a guy who can pound the ball up the middle though, hopefully Johnny White is that guy.

I like the prospect of "Bald" Bruce Gradkowski from the Raiders. He wasn't tendered before the lock out. Pretty much exactly fits what Nix is talking about and I've always thought he's had some skills.
Please no Kerry Collins or some other old jamoke.BILLS FOOTBALL

Alex Smith might be the best fit. Has experience, has shown flashes of being a solid starter, and he is most comfortable in a spread offense.

Re: Nix explains QB plans , spiller etc.
Myself personally, basing everything on knowing a guy is going to be a franchise QB doesn't seem like a very intelligent approach on addressing the QB position and QB's like Tom Brady prove as much.
Bills HC Chan Gailey's expertise is in developing QB's and to not draft a young QB prospect at all for him to work with is ludicrous from a management point of view in my opinion.
Nix could get himself fired for not addressing the QB position properly, especially If Fitz fizzles...Last edited by Figster; 05-13-2011, 03:54 PM.

Hope it wasn't drafting Gabbert over Dareus.... I would have puked out my ass if we did that.

I would have drafted Ryan Mallet in the 3rd, or Bama's Greg McElroy before the Jets scooped him up. Two clubs (Jets & Pats) set at the QB position yet thought these two signal callers were to good to pass up.Last edited by Figster; 05-13-2011, 04:04 PM.
