    Atlanta Thrashers set to move to Winnipeg

    An agreement to sell the National Hockey League’s Atlanta Thrashers to a Winnipeg group which plans to relocate the franchise to the Manitoba capital is done.

    Sources confirmed Thursday night that preparations are being made for an announcement Tuesday, confirming the sale and transfer of the Thrashers to True North Sports and Entertainment, which owns and operates the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League and the MTS Centre arena, which would become the NHL team’s new home

    I think this is great news for the NHL....Now how do you realign? Detroit or Columbus to the East? I'll bet it's Columbus. Detroit has too many rivals in the West.

      Nashville makes the most sense. Then put Winnipeg in the Northwest and move Minnesota to the Central

        wow, we just hired a guy at work who's a Thrashers fan. He's not gonna be happy.

        On one hand, I feel bad for the fans in Atlanta. On the other hand, if they had been better fans, they wouldn't be losing their team, not to mention that hockey belongs in places like Winnipeg and it doesn't belong in places like Atlanta.

              I'd hold off on realignment for now. Phoenix is still on life support and could eventually move to Quebec or Kansas City.

              Florida could up and move at any time too

                The issue with the Thrashers wasn't the fans as much as it was the ownership group.

                The fans didnt show up like the team needed but the ownership refused to give fans a reason to both showing up.

                  I feel bad for my brother who lives in Atlanta and is a Sabres fan. It was his only chance to see them when they came into town.

                  Other than that I don't care. They had their chance and messed it up by not supporting the team.

                      Read an article last year that Detroit wants out of the West because travel costs (and time) are killing them.

                          Where did you read that? Everything I've seen said Winnipeg Jets...hell, they are even selling Winnipeg Jet Jersey's.

                            Again the issue was not just with the fans. That's the easy party to blame and the one the ownership group wants you to blame.
